It's Christmas with Pan Pastels

I blinked and opened my eyes to discover it was Sunday already. Where did the weekend go that I do not feel like I have had 2 days off work? Am in a bit of a moaning minny mood today as managed to tear half of my thumb nail off. The tear is in the nail bed and is so painful but I am being a bit of a "girls blouse" about the whole thing, which is probably making things worse. Even my youngest son has rolled his eyes at me and suggested I made a cup of "man up" ... what a cheek!

Back to happier things ... the theme this fortnight over at Pan Pastel Challenges is "embossing" and was a bit stumped first as couldn't decide where to emboss and colour a stencil, emboss and colour a stamped image, emboss and colour a die cut ..... so I did a bit of all three! I was faffing so much that I was in danger of the challenge passing me by ... eek.

I began by colouring my card with red pearl, magenta, blue pearl and ultramarine, blending the colours with the new pan pastel colour medium. I then used the Chrysanthemum mask with light modelling paste to create my back ground. Whist the paste was wet, I dusted glitter on top. Finally, once dried, I went over the edges of the backing piece with red pearl.

With my background made (and dry), I have used a doily as my centre piece. I have lightly coloured the doily with red pearl and raw umber pan pastel and then finally with white pearl. Next I layered some Tattered Lace die cuts (which were given the same treatment as the doily), on top. I stamped the stamp image and cut him out, placing him off centre.

Next I stamped some baubles with Perfect Medium and then used red pearl and raw umber pan pastel to add colour. The baubles were placed amongst the fir and holly branches.

Finally I added some ribbon bows and Doodle Gems. However, I still think it is not quite finished and I need to add something near the Reindeer's bottom area ..... what,I'm not sure? Any ideas welcomed.

Happy Sunday everyone and I'm off to spend a day colouring as have rediscovered my colouring mojo thanks to a recent purchase of Prisma Colour pencils and the Pan Pastels DT challenging themselves to colour with pan pastels ...... watch this space,

Lou

This is gorgeous. The elegance of it is overwhelming. It is truly a magnificent card and a beautiful piece of art. Your talent is to be envied (it is by me) and I'm saving this card to my desktop to enjoy it a bit longer. What a beautiful beautiful card. Thanks for joining us at Christmas at Sweet Stampin' this month and I hope you'll stop back on October 8 because I KNOW you will like our next challenge, too! Hugs, Gail

I forgot to add: there's no need to put anything near the reindeer's buttom. By leaving it plain like this, the eye is drawn to the reindeer and then the wreath. If you HAVE to add something, it would be so neutral that it wouldn't be noticed, anyway. I'd leave it just like it is and from the comments you've received, it is well liked just the way you've done it. Hugs again, Gail
