My new love .... pearlescent pan pastels ....

The theme this fortnight over at Pan Pastel Challenges is "Frame It" and the one thing I knew was that I desperately wanted to use my new pearlescent pan pastels ... I am seriously in crafting heaven.

Whilst visiting my Mum recently she had a poppy stamp set by Sheena Douglas and I had "stamp envy" so just had to get it. You know the feeling: crafting life would not be complete without it (I know a slight exaggeration). So I have used this stamp for my DT card ....

The photos do not show how pearlescent my card is but believe me it has a beautiful sheen and lustre. I stamped the plain white background card with the poppy stamp set, heated embossed with Cosmic Shimmer pure white embossing powder. I then smothered the card in white pearlescent pan pastel and wow .... instant pearlescent card stock: seriously blown away. Plain card stock will never be "dull" again!

For my main background, I again stamped the poppy images and heat embossed. I then was very brave and used the NEW pan pastel colour blender. I put the blender in the middle of my background and then using the pearlescent green pan pastel, worked my way towards the blender and did the same with the blue pearlescent pan pastel. Rather than have to really blend the two colours, the new blender seemlessly joined the two to give me a light but seemless blend.

For my frame, I first cut one out of acetate and embossed it with a Sizzex folder (square lattice) but it didn't "do anything" for me, so I cut another frame out of white card, gave it the white pearlescent treatment and layered it on top of the acetate.

The additional poppies were stamped on plain white card, embossed, cut out and then given the pearlescent treatment ... can you get how I know have a new "lurve" for anything pearlescent (hee, hee, hee)! I layered to look as if they are popping out of the frame.

I added some expoxy sticker words from Tim Holtz and some vellum leaves.

Phew ... thinks that it (wipes brow). Off to do a spot of blog nosing as haven't had my fix this week and I suppose, I better get ready for the working week.

Take care everyone,

Lou
