Just a "tad" late for the Polka Doodles challenge ...
I am typing this whilst shaking my head in disbelief as I have even flummoxed myself .... card made (tick), card photographed (tick), card made in time for the challenge on Friday (tick), photographs uploaded to a draft post (tick), post written and published (err ... apparently not)! I really thought I had done this and was shocked to discover that I had not. Still here shaking my head in disbelief ...
Anyhow, the theme is "Ribbon and Lace" over at Polka Doodles Challenges and it's inspiration week. I decided to use the Octavia CD/download to create my card using just the papers, embellies, alphabets and flowers. All the elements have a real material/textural feel and to enhance this, I printed out all my images on to canvas effect card. Here's what I came up with ...
Everything except the "real" ribbon, lace and doily are all found on this wonderful CD and/or download. I had a wonderfully relaxing time fussy cutting all the pieces and forgot how I do enjoy this part of card making.
I have cut out one of the frames and then layered it with a heart doily, crochet lace and paper ribbon. I then placed two hearts in the centre, punching holes and threading ribbon through the holes.
Next I cut out the letters to spell "mum" placing this on top of the first layers. I also cut out the scrabble tiles to make the words "with love" ... the scrabble tiles are also on the Octavia CD/download too.
Next I layered up all the hydrangea flowers and shaped them with a ball tool to give them a little dimension. I have added little pearl centres as a finishing touch.
Finally I add a further heart in to the corner of the card which I decorated with ribbon and flowers.
Now I really do need to apologise to all my DT teamies for being so forgetful and point you all over to the Polka Doodles Challenge blog to join in with us on the "ribbon and lace" challenge.
