Stencils and panpastels ... perfect match!

Sorry my post is late but I have had camera woes. I seriously thought I was going mad, bonkers, nutty or even off my rocker. I have been trying to take photos of my project and just could get a decent picture. It didn't matter what I did, which setting I chose, which button I pressed ... still rubbish photo. I was tearing my hair out as couldn't figure out why it was happening and then I remembered .... the penny dropped slowly .... my darling son had used the camera to take photos and video for his media project. Whilst I was relieved that my sanity was indeed intact, I still couldn't take a decent photo for toffee. When he returned, he confirmed my suspicions, explained what he had done etc and how it created this effect, that effect etc, how brilliant the shots were .... then he caught me just looking at him; didn't say anything, just stared. Suffice to say the camera is back to how I need it and he has been given strict instructions that if he needs it again, leave it as he found things!

Anyhow, on to my project. The new theme over at Pan Pastel Challenges is "Stencil It" and I was over the moon as love using stencils .... however .... eons later, I'm was still flicking through my stencils deciding on which one to use ... lol. Finally made a decision and here is what I came up with ...

I used white gesso on the Flower Swirl stencil from Dutch Doobadoo to create my background. Whilst still wet, I added some white coarse pearlescent pan pastel to the raised images. It doesn't show in the photo but it created a subtle sparkly effect. Once dry, I cut the backing card up in to smaller pieces and began my project. I have used pearlescent yellow, followed by pearlescent orange and finally soft gold on the edges.

The centre panel is a piece of Stampbord which  first covered in perfect medium and then coloured using the same colours as above. Next using the flower swirl stencil (with perfect medium), I embossed the image(s) on the Stampbord. I covered the wet ink with a mixture of white and clear embossing powders. I then added a soft gold edging with my pan pastels.

Across the centre of the backing card, I have placed a yummy piece of decorative lace trim, topped with a soft organza ribbon and to one side, the Stampbord panel. Next I layered the panel with some flowers that I thought might compliment the stencil. The sentiment was a magazine freebie and is from Clearly Besotted.

Now that my post is finally "live", camera woes sorted, I think I had better doing some domestic chores otherwise we will all be going to work/school in a strange concoction of clothes!
