Using squares to create a snowflake ...

Wow, I thought I had scheduled this post to go live on Sunday but "whoops" didn't happen for one reason or another! I even thought I had written this post and did all my links, but that must have been in another universe or perhaps I did do it but whilst I was asleep! This time I do have to blame a certain amount on human error and Mr blogger can rest easy.

For Love to Create challenges, I decided to make a snowflake ornament but using small square pieces of stampbord. I began by decorating easy pieces of stampbord with fine white pearlescent pan pastel and then over stamped each square with small snowflake designs.

I edged each small square with blue pan pastel and then sealed the whole tile with clear embossing powder. Next I began sticking the stampbord pieces down to make a "square circle"!

To add further interest, I randomly placed snowflake die cuts on to the back of each stampbord piece ,but did cut them up so that it wasn't a uniform design. I have covered the backs of each square to hide all my gluing etc. (Apologies not photo).

My final bit of "faff" or "pretty" was to add some ribbon roses and silver sequins. The longest part of this project was being patient and waiting for the stampbord pieces to dry after gluing ...

Right, I'm off to do a bit of shopping in the local town to Mum's. I always make sure that I go to the traditional Irish shops or shops that would not be found at home. What's the point of going away and shopping in your normal shops?

Such an unusual design but it works well using squares and snowflakes to hold it all together. Thank you for sharing your work with all of us at Crafty Boots Challenges.
