Notebook cover with stamps & pan pastels

It's a new "Anything goes" challenge over at Love 2 Create and I thought I'd share a notebook I made using my pan pastels, inks, stamps and some die cuts ...

Now I have to be honest and say the notebook isn't finished as I made a bit of a 'boob' when printing the inside pages. I created different styled planner pages and was really chuffed with myself. Trimmed them down and went to place the holes in them, (with my bind-it-all), when I noticed my mistake ... I had printed the planner pages with the titles at the very, very, very top which meant the holes would obliterate them. Definite face plant moment ...! Oh well back to the printer I go ...

I began by covering a piece of mount board with kraft card. Next came a layer of gesso and whilst wet, I stamped in to the gesso to leave a subtle floral impression. Once dry, I covered everything with grey and then with white pearl medium pan pastel, blending with the colourless blender. Next I highlighted all the raised bits with my versamark pen and coloured with metallic gold and bronze pan pastel.

I stamped in between these designs with a script stamp in brown ink. Using gilding glue, I stamped extra flowers and gilded them. As they looked 'brash', I sanded them back to give a more aged look.

On a piece of kraft card, I created the same background (as main front) but instead of gilding, I stamped flowers over the panel (see below). I mounted this panel on to another piece of kraft card but distressed the edges with black pan pastel. I stamped a butterfly, colouring with metallic bronze & magenta pan pastel. This was then placed in to bottom left corner.

I created another smaller panel using the same principles as above but made sure the final result was smooth so it could be written on (if need be. This was then mounted on to a decorative die cut panel created by using 2 die cut corners. As a finishing touch, I added a further butterfly.

I thoroughly enjoyed getting absorbed in to my project, chucking this and that at it and by the time I finished, my hands were very dirty ... sheer bliss! Have to be honest and say not sure when I'll have another go finishing my notebook but it will have to be soon as I want to give it as a present.

If you get the chance, pop over to the challenge blog and firstly see the wonderful projects my teamies made and if you get the time, join in with us all.

Have a great Sunday everyone,

Lou
