Beauty in words ...

Summer holidays have begun and so the endless rain starts ... why I act surprised, I don't know. Now the holidays are here I can catch up with my crafting and blogging, as life became a wee bit more hectic the last 6 weeks of term.

Back at the beginning of July, Tonic Studios released 2 new alphabet stamps and a set of coordinating frames on Hochanda. I wanted to do something a little different with the alphabet stamps and decided to make a mixed media inspired piece ...

I began by creating the background using the Block Capital stamps in a random pattern with clear ink and then embossed with white. Using the Evergreen Fern Aqua Flow pen on my glass mat, I swooshed the card through it. Next with a spritzer, I further spread the colour out, blotting every now and then with a piece of kitchen towel.

I stuck the panel down to another piece of card and realised that I didn't like the colour of the card I had chosen! Luckily had a quick 'light bulb' moment and using gilding glue, added a border of gilding flakes in silver and gold. Now happy with the result, I mounted both layers on to a piece of black card.

On a piece of red and green card, I again stamped the alphabet but embossed with clear powder. The petals for the flower were made using the heart die from the 'Make-a-Shaker card' set and leaves from Layered Clouds die set. Everything was layered and finished with black glitter and a silver button.

The sentiment was stamped on to black card, embossed in white, again using the Block Capital stamp set. Words were then added to the panel. As a finishing touch, the smallest butterflies from the Layering Butterfly die set were added ... after they had been gilded a little.

Something a little different and wanted to show how the alphabets could be used differently and also how you can change the use of a die - hope I succeeded?

Lou

A clever use of your alphabet stamps both in the sentiment and on the background. I also like the way that you've used the heart die to create the flower. Thank you for sharing this with us at Stamping Sensations. Sandra x
