Win & Tonic - Jingle Bell Rock

Another new challenge over at 'Win & Tonic' this month and the theme this month is 'Christmas'. The Tonic DT would love it if you popped over and join in the fun with us especially as the prize on offer this month is ...

Dimensions - Christmas Cracker Treat Box Die Set
1817E_PACKED_1000_RGB_1024x1024

For my card, I wanted to create a card but use non-Christmas dies for the main focal point. My starting point was the Sentiments Three set - which have a fab selection of Christmas phrases - I was drawn to 'Jingle Bells' and instantly thought 'music', so without further ado, off I went to grab my music themed dies. This is what I came up with ...

I created a very soft background using Nuvo embellishment mousses in Pacific Teal & Aquamarine, firstly dry brushing the colours on to my card blank and then by spritzing/flicking the same colours.

I die cut the sentiment 3 times and layered together to create a deeper/dimensional cut. I spritzed it with the same mousse colours, then with water and using a wet wipe, dabbed the colour. I was really pleased with how it created a great mottled effect.

For the guitar, I cut the design once in white but only embossed the design on kraft card. I 'moussed' both and then layered one on top of the other cutting out the now layered electric guitar. behind the guitar I placed a white snowflake to act as a contrast.

I also die cut the Perfect harmony die and as with the other die cuts, 'moussed' it. This was then put behind the guitar and snowflake. Before stamping the 'ROCK' (Block Capitals alphabet stamps), I did a trail run of where all the different elements would look best on my card blank. Once happy, I stamped the additional word, embossing in Serenity Blue.

Apologies for the poor photos ... however hard I tried, I just could get a clear image so had to walk away before I had severe words with my camera 😉

Hope to see you over at Win & Tonic even if it is really a little too early for Christmas projects ...,

Lou
