Funky Fairy & La La Land Challenges

Just a really quick post today as am in the car winding my way back from Wales after visiting my cute, adorable nephew . . . . . suppose I better mention my sister & B-I-L as well ! ! ! Before I forget "Get Well Soon" Mike and deep breath Sarah . . . the nursing won't last too long ! ! !

Have to say I'm not a big fan of the journey . . . the M4 has to be one of the most boring motorways to travel on. . . in fact most motorways are boring whether your the passenger or the driver . . . however don't get me started on the M25 . . . DETEST that motorway with a passion !

OK before my blood pressure hits the roof, here is my card for this weeks challenge, which is to add texture to your project. Unfortunately time is at a premium for me at the moment so my card is quick & very simple.

I have used an old Funky Fairy's kit called "Colourful Daze" which has been printed onto a canvas effect paper to add texture as this is the theme over on Funky Fairy's this week. Doodled a heart shape, cut it out & stamped into the middle.

La La Land wanted us to use "ribbon" this week, so the heart has been edged with eyelets & a thin ribbon threaded through each eyelet, ending with a bow on the top. . . . I think I have this bit covered ! Card then finished with a lickle tag and I have written the "always" on to the tag . . . simple card but I love the striking design.

Charisma Cardz and Passion for Promarkers

It's my 2nd week as a GD for the Charisma Cardz challenge and have loved being part of the DT even if it was just as a guest. Oh well, as the saying goes, "All good things come to an end" . . .

The theme this week is "NO designer papers" and really enjoyed making my card this week because yet again it made me get my stamps out.

The stamps I have used are from CC Designs and some of them haven't had even a smell of ink, let alone a touch, so they simply had to be used! Stamped my buggy (animal) onto the green bazzil card and then coloured him in with Promarkers. He was further stamped onto the white strip and again coloured with the same colour Promarkers as before.

The fab jar is also part of the set & had to obviously stamp the buggy (animal) again inside it. I have layered the jar to look curved, which probably doesn't show up too well in my photo's, and then further layered my bug on top. The fab sentiment is also part of this set.

I am also entering this into the "Passion for Promarkers" challenge this week whose theme is animals . . . . I know my lickle bug isn't an animal in the true sense of the word but . . . I think they might just overlook my "faux par" !?!?!? Well,

Can't be on here too long . . . washing & housework to catch up on . . . I know, I swore but sometimes you just have to ! Will be catching up with everyone tomorrow, fingers crossed, so until then, take care,

Polka Doodles Challenge

Yep, it's week #23 already and we've gone all "Halloweenie" over at Polka Doodles. Nikky asked the DT to make a project using the "Polly Witchydoodles" Halloween download. I was a little cheeky 'cos I used the download but also added some stamping to my card using the fabby "Daisy Doodles" stamps . . . so in love with the tree & swirl images!

All the papers are from the Halloween download but as said previously, stamped the trees onto the papers & cut them out. My background was stamped and I highlighted bits with a white gel pen. Simply had to use Jack (from the download) as he is such a cute ghost: plus the sentiment (also from the download). A further bit of random doodling and my card is complete!

Nikky is offering the "Polly Witchydoodles" Halloween download as the prize this week on the challenge blog . . . not to just 1 winner but to 3! So to win it, just join in with us this week and you never know . . . it could be you.

Guest Designer for Charisma Cardz !

Yeah . . . was really chuffed to be asked to be the GD for Charisma Cardz for the next 2 weeks and loved the themes as it really gave me a chance to play with my stamps . . . not been giving them enough "lurve" at the moment !

The theme this week is "Delightfully Daisies" and knew which stamps I wanted to use as I have had this fab stamps for simply eons and they haven't seen the light of day for . . . well eons actually ! This also makes this card very suitable for the Secret Crafters challenge which is "Dig Deep". The same flower design comes in 3 different sizes so stamped them onto some DP that was in my scrap box (thinks it's DCWV) and came up with this card . . . .

Flower stamps: "Doodles for Daniel" - Stamping Bella

The swirls stamp is from SU and is one of their wheel stamps . . . so loving these at the mo as they make backgrounds in an instance. Cut the flowers out and layered the bigger designs on top of each other, finished with a pearl brad. The small flowers have been randomly placed and finished with a gem.

Had to cheat a little on the gems as didn't have enough of the same colour, so used my Promarker (Cocoa) to colour 2 of the gems in to match the other 3 . . . not quite the perfect colour match but not too far out. The fab sentiment is from an SU hostess stamp set.

Well got to dash as up to my ears in "stuff" and have set myself the goal of getting it all finished by the weekend ! Eeeeekkkkkkk !

ICS challenge #39

WOW . . . a week has truly flown by and I'm not sure where it has gone to? It's flown so quickly the last 7 days seem a complete blur ! Was a touch depressed this morning when some lovely, young, slim girl on the TV decided to announce (much to cheerfully for me), that Christmas was only 9 weeks away . . . WHAT ! Where has 2009 gone . . . seriously . . . where have the months & weeks gone? It must be my age but finally I'm beginning to truly appreciate time spent doing things I enjoy and no longer feel the need to cram something into every minute . . . however my teenage son on the other hand is totally the opposite !

OK enough of the waffle, onto this weeks ICS sketch and as always Dawn has produced a brilliant sketch. What was even better was the fact that I knew what image I wanted to use from our sponsors, Doodle Palace, straight away . . . . well when you see the sketch and then my card, you'll see how this image is made for this weeks challenge!

Here is the card I made . . .

I have used the rocket from Doodle Palace and then just matted & layered different papers & card. These were first stamped with a SU stamping wheel (can't remember the name) and then either hand cut or punched out. Loads of chalking & inking later and my card was finished. This was another quick card . . . approx 45 mins and most of that time was taken colouring my rocket!

Love the bold, strong lines on this rocket and wouldn't it make a fab shaped card? I used Doodlebug rub-ons and using a hole punch, punched them out. A little inking later and they were matted onto the oval crater . . . well it's meant to look like a crater ! In fact all of them are ! ! !

I had great fun visiting all your blogs last week and just love how everyone interpretates the sketches differently . . . great inspiration . . . however there is a downside . . . I then have to add things to my "wish list" that I just need ! OOhhhh, just realised I can now share my "wish list" with the lads and you never know Santa might bring some of them on 25th Dec !

Take care,

Lou

Got a few challenges done !

WOW . . . really busy at the moment with decorating upstairs after the electricians; fitting in being unwell at the same time (!) and completing several large assignments . . . just wish I could lock myself away for a day or two and I'd probably get things done so much more quickly !

Well I was getting so frustrated with myself that I had to have a break and do something enjoyable . . . yep, you guessed it . . . make a card ! I also noticed that I have been neglecting some of my fave challenges too . . . . whoops. OK, enough of the waffle, here's what I came up with after a good 40 minutes play . . .

I am quite pleased with my card because it meant I used up loads of bits from my "scrap box" and it came together really quickly. Isn't that image adorable . . . I do love certain vintage images . . not all but some !

Here is a close up of my ribbon which is threaded & stapled "randomly". I cut some poinsettia flowers & leaves out of scraps using my Quickutz. I was also conscious that there might not be enough "yellow" on my card, so added some yellow gems !

I am entering my card into the following challenges:

La La Land - theme this week is Winter/Christmas
Charisma - the theme this week is "It's so Distressing". - got exciting news about this challenge but keeping it a secret for the moment!
Colour Create - Use red, yellow, white & black
Friday Sketchers - yummy sketch to follow - another one saved in my sketch folder.
Rosie Dee's - Colour theme is "Carrot, Courgette & a flower - I hope it's a colour theme ! ! !

I feel so much better now but better get back to the grind . . . !

Polka Doodles challenge #22

WOW, week 22 already over at Polka Doodles Challenge. . just can't believe where the time is going . . we have so many things happening at the moment but not enough, arms, legs or time to complete them all . . such is life I suppose.

Anyhow, this week we had another fab sketch to follow but Nikky wanted the DT to use both the "Jingle Jangles" CD and also the NEW Christmas Doodles stamp set which compliment this CD to perfection.

I have used the scrummy snowman papers (adore these)and randomly stamped loads of lickle snowflakes over the background. Stamped & water coloured the tree, decorating it with a bauble (also from the stamp set). Finally liberally stamped some more snowflakes around, on & over the tree! Used some scrap vellum pieces to add my central line and again stamped over these.

The lickle snowman right at the bottom has been strategically placed to cover my stamping mistake - don't stamp & talk on the phone at the same time ! ! Hope you are all well. Weather is freezing here and have even resorted to putting the heating on - wear another jumper & extra socks just aren't working !

Hope everyone is well and looking forward to the weekend . . I know I am. Now please bear with me as I have blog hopped around like some frantic bunny on an illigal substance but hstill aven't managed to get around to everyone, but I promise am off to complete my mammoth task this weekend.

Funky Fairy's Challenge

What do you know . . not on here for ages and then post twice in the same week ! !

This is a very quick card for the Funky Fairy's challenge this week which was to make a card with no image. I love this sort of challenge as you can really "churn out" quick cards without worrying too much about colour matching papers to your images. I'm dreadful, I colour my images and then try and see what paper matches it . . not always easy to do ! ! This card only took me 20 minutes . . & sometimes I wish they were all as quick as this.

I have used this fab paper from the "Shabby Christmas" kit and printed in onto white vellum paper. Love the effect on the paper. The snowflake was had cut with lots of different layers; added a bit of chalk here & there, finally finished with a button in the middle. The gingham ribbon is from my stash and it was so badly creased that I had to iron it before I could use it ! ! Now I really, really, really despise ironing but not when aids my crafting ! ! !

Oh before I forget . . . am getting so excited about the 1st EVER "The 12 "FuNkY days Christmas workshop" which starts on 1st November . . . loads of exclusive downloads (that will never go in the shop), tutorials galore and Santa might be dropping in for a couple of early visits . . . yay, can't wait and have put a huge ring around the date on my calendar. If you are interested, have a look HERE for all the details.

Have had a good therapeutic blog hop tonight and love catching up with everyone . . . still owe many people a "hi" and promise to get round to your blogs really soon.

Take care,

Lou

ICS challenge #38

Hi everyone,

Yep been absent again. It took us a lot longer than anticipated to clean up after the rewire and although we have done LOADS, we still have lots more to do. We're just waiting on the plasterer to fill my sieve looking kitchen but Steve has laid a new bedroom floor after it was cut up to make way for the new cables etc. Now just got loads of decorating to do ! ! !

Well it's challenge #38 over on Inspirational Card Sketches and my second week as a DT ! Can you guess that I'm still excited . . . . . yep, I still am ! Dawn has drawn another fab sketch and I wanted to use stamping on my card as much as possible this week and have actually only used 2 stamps to create it !

I have used an SU large stamping wheel which was great fun to use. It has made my background, little 3D shapes & the background to my topper.

Am so into these "wheels" at the moment. Just ink and roll away to your hearts content! I decided to off centre the middle panel as I thought it would help with the "wave/water" movement effect. Not sure if it has but I actually like it as it makes such a change not to just matt & layer in the normal, traditional way. Centre panel has a little bit of torn vellum on it to add to the watery feel. Have added some doodling to the top & bottom to link everything in.

The sentiment is an SU circular one stamped int he same colour ink & as there are lots of bubbles in the background, I thought it would look like a larger bubble. I chalked the fish circles in 2 shades of green/aqua, so that stood out from the other sections of the card. Loved making this card as it was quick & really easy to make but I'm loving it . . . going to try it in a different colour next . . . something hot & spicy !

The challenge over on ICS this week is sponsored by "Scrapbooks N Stuff" who aer giving away one sheet of every paper from the Elliot Collection from Scrap Within Reach . . so as they say . . you have to be in it, to win it.

Hope to see you over at ICS and can't wait to blog hop about looking at your designs, as haven't had much chance recently and am now getting withdrawal systems.

Take care,

Lou

ICS challenge

Now have to say I am really, really excited about the challenge this week because . . . I made the Inspirational Card Sketches DT ! ! ! Yep, I did it and am so pleased that Dawn picked me. Dawn picked 8 of us in total for the next 3 month stint and we are all equally "stoked".

The sketch this week was fab (as always) and such a versatile one and I actually made 2 cards using it ! ! !

Here is my 1st card . .

So relieved I made a Christmas card as I am slowly getting together a good stock pile now ready for the festive season . . . which is not too far away now ! Gulp & eek ! The background was made using an SU stamping wheel and then I stamped the sentiment onto the same background . . . isn't that sentiment just adorable? Ribbon from my offcuts box and chip board is from Basic Grey.

Now my 2nd card is a total contrast and is made for a man ! ! Gulp, yep I bit the bullet and made a masculine card . . (well I hope I did, lol).

I have used papers, alphabet & images from the new Polka Doodles CD " Not for Girls" and have to say that this CD is "out of this world". There is simply LOADS of fab-ness on the CD all for making those tricky male cards . . . so many themes from modern, traditional & vintage . . . definitely won't be stuck for a very long while! Now did you notice my mistake on this card? I only"twigged" when I was uploading the photo and quickly rushed off to make the necessary change !

Can you believe I spelt "birthday" incorrectly . . how many times as a card maker must we use that word ?!?!?! Shame on me! Ooohhh before I forget, doesn't that bird have "real attitude" ?

Can't wait to visit you all to see what you make using the sketch this week . . in my official DT role . . can you tell that I'm excited !?!?!? However please bear with me as we are upto our necks in rewiring just as this post appears (fingers crossed Mr Scheduler works) and I'm not sure when I will be able to get on here.

Simon Says . . .

. . . now I haven't made anything for the Simon Says challenge for a complete age and really should join in more often - if not for the challenge but for the lovely Lorraine who works so hard on this challenge blog. She is a star and makes such wonderful cards.

the theme this week was "Red & Green" and for once, I haven't made a card but a Christmas decoration . .

It's a little heart decoration/box/bag which can be filled with goodies. The ribbon was stitched on (so could of entered last weeks challenge !) I printed directly onto the card from the fab "Jingle Jangles" CD from Polka Doodles and that is also where that adorable robin can be found (in digi format, so not true stamping but I hope you can just over look this . . . please) . . isn't he just soooooo cute? Finished off with some extra hearts and paper ribbon.

I'm definitely going to make a few more of these to hang from my tree this year as they were a really fun project.

Got time to do some challenges!

Sorry that I haven't been around but "life" caught up with me again ! ! First the camera went, then the printer and finally the dishwasher . . . that was the hardest blow as it meant washing up for real ! ! ! To add insult to injury we have been informed that our electrics are rubbish (confirmed by 3 different electricians) and we have to have the house partially rewired next week ! ! ! eeekkkk as this means limited or NO electrics for at least 3 days. It also means that we have had to put the kitchen refurb on hold until all of this has been done & then several areas re-plastered. To then top off my wonderful week or so, school has been informed that Ofsted will be in on Monday - not really worried about Ofsted visiting but its just the upheaval it causes . . . oh well, such is life . . she says with a forced grin !

Onto happier things (I hope . . lol). Here is my first challenge card and it is for Polka Doodles. The DT were asked to make a card only using the Crimbley Doodles mini download & a sketch. Because we have printer problems, I had to pop over to a friends and borrow her printer, so only printed off 2 papers (I know, how silly) but have made this card . .

The snowflakes are cut by hand and layered over vellum & card, finally finished with a button in the middle. Quick, simple card but am loving the look myself. Sorry about the photo but also using said friends camera and not too sure how it works ! ! !

Hope you are all well and having a less hectic time than me ! ! !
