Ohhhh, new stamps to play with ...

Oh my oh my .... I am totally and utterly cream cracker'd and am sadly feeling my age today. What a busy fortnight and definitely have end of term fog head but must also add have had a real blast too with the all the leavers events/activities. On to the crafty task at hand ... Polka Doodles Challenges "two patterned papers" challenge. I decided to use the new stamp sets recently released to create my own backing papers, "What's up buttercup" ...   I created the floral background using the stamps and coloured with distress inks. I created a further smaller panel ready to layer my sentiment on to it. I also stamped some additional flower to layer up and created further height.   Before sticking everything down, thought I better add some ACTUAL patterned papers (just in case). These papers are from Bonbon Belles collection. The sentiment is from Polka Doodles Work and Play 1 which I have over stamped and coloured. A few leaf stamped embe

Money isn't always for spending ...!

Edited to add (24th July): not sure what happened but my post disappeared! Have checked all the settings and everything appears okay ..... a little spooked and mightily confused. Thank you to the kind person who emailed me to let me know. For this weeks inspiration post over at Love to Create, I have decided to make a money box to help save for Christmas but not Christmas Day per say but of course the Christmas sales ... I began by painting the MDF money box with Maimeri yellow acrylic paint. Once dried I sanded the paint to dull the colour and then covered the sides in light gold metallic pan pastel.  Next I mixed white pearlescent pan pastel (dust) with Maimeri matt medium and dry brushed this on to all edges and corners. Again once dry, I lightly sanded to distress the colours further. Using the PAB Perfect Poinsettia stamps, I randomly stamped all over the money box using red stazon. All the images were coloured with permanent red pan pastel and then highlighted with magen

Altered milk bottle

Well this week has been manic from start to finish and I am sooooooo tired. Sports days (x2), school plays, leavers trips, school disco and a work colleagues leaving do crammed in to 5 days .... and don't forget the obligatory teaching too! We have only got 3 days remaining until the end of term but they are also chocker block too. I think I will be having a long lie or a lazy day next Thursday. In my end-of-term fog head mode, I forgot to post my Love to Create project for the "anything goes/mixed media" challenge and am trying to sneak it in now before the inspiration post tomorrow! Sssshhhhh, don't tell anyone ... pretty please ....! For my project I decided to alter a milk bottle to turn it in to a candle holder ready for Christmas ... I began by covering the bottle with Maimeri gel medium mixed with white and blue acrylic paint. I just splodged it all on in a "devil may care" manner ... Whilst still wet, I then used my finger and tapped the

It's all about the embossing ...

This week has flown past quicker than Concorde and even faster than the speed of light! It has been choker full of "stuff" that I have completed but I don't remember when, where and sometimes why (lol). Relaxing but busy weekend happening and looking forward to getting away. I just home not too many people are travelling on Friday evening ... I can but wish ... The theme this week over at Polka Doodle Challenges is "add some embossing" and as I forgot to blog my card last week, thought I had better add it and hope no one noticed my absence ... eeeek!  I have used papers, sentiment and embellishments from Work and Play 9, Love and Kisses.   I printed off all my elements and embossed them with different embossing folder. I then sanded back all the embossing to age the papers a bit. Next I knocked the colour further back by adding fine white pearlescent pan pastel. This gave all the papers and embellies a great shimmery effect (which is not captured cl
