Just breathe it all in ...

"Just breathe it all in" ... isn't that a wonderful statement and can be applied in many different ways. Well it was my inspiration for my project for Love 2 Create Challenges and I have used it on a 10p frame I found in a local charity shop ... I covered the frame with Maimeri white gesso and when dry, a good coating of pearlescent blue pan pastel. On the edges I have used phtalo blue pastel to add a little contrast.  Colours used: magenta, yellow green & perm green Using the wonderful new stamps from Polka Doodles, Tropical Flowers 1 , I stamped all the images on to water colour card and added the pan pastels with a dry paint brush, blending the colour out with water. For added protection, I covered each of the images with perfect medium and then a healthy layer of clear embossing powder. Colours used on Humming Bord: magenta and orange The sentiment that gave me my inspiration, was stamped at the very top for all to see with the hummingbird. Ev

Let your dreams take flight

Quite a while back, I was asked by Personal Impressions to make some cards using different Sweet Dixie products and here is one of the design I came up with ... a tag card ... I began by embossing the Flower Burst stencil using Perfect Medium and Sweet Dixie embossing powder, Blueberry Blue. Before setting with the heat gun, I brushed some of the embossing powder away to give an aged, faded look. Next, I stamped the small floral stamp from the Flights of Fantasy stamp set all around the edges. On to acetate, I stamped the butterfly from the Flights of Fantasy stamp set and heat embossed it with Blurberry Blue embossing powder. Next, I covered the Flower Burst stencil in Picked Raspberry ink and ran it through my die cutting machine. I repeated this action as I have need for two of these .... ! Cutting one of the designs in to a spiral, I then created a rose (see below). I repeated this process on other colours using the stencil as I was not sure how many flow

You Little Star ...

The new challenge over at Polka Doodles Challenges is "anything but square" and I decided to use the wonderful "Dancing Queen" and the clapper board from Winnie Fruit Punch to create my card ... I collated all my images on to one page (in Word) and printed them on to Ultimate Graphic card. I also increased the size of the clapper board to fit a 6"x6" card, reversing the image to cover the inside. Using another printed paper, I then decorated the inside, adding star die cuts and a film strip digi image. Do pop over to the Polka Doodles Challenge blog and check out all the DT inspiration: you'll be blown away, trust me. 'Bon Voyage' envelope card

Tonic Studios recently released a beautiful stamp range called 'Bunched Bouquet' and a range of envelope dies: Sweet Nothing Delicate Embrace. I thought it would be great to combine the two together to create my envelope card with matching wrap/fastner. I began by creating my backing paper using the stamps and distress inks. I stuck to the same 2 colours but allowed them to dry between base and top layers. Next I cut out the envelope base and using the internal dies, cut out my backing paper design. I then began adding the decoration. I created a postcard and on one edge stamped the sentiment strip "Just to say". and embossed in Nuvo Soft Lilac powder. I then began adding more decoration using the following dies: petite vintage car, petite compass, Clarice upper & lower alphabets and garland fayre. All were cut in co-ordinating colours. I added the 'Bon' part of the sentiment to the garland fayre bunting, adding a ribbon offcut behind.
