Studio 12 Shabby Chic Roses for Rosie .....

Rosie, my son's girlfriend recently celebrated her birthday and Luke asked me to make her a card .... not to give from him (!) but from us! Rosie had let slip a while back that she has never had a card with her name on it, so that was my starting point ...... I have used the lush Studio 12 Shabby Chic Roses stamp set from Polka Doodles (big A5 set) which have been stamped and coloured them Aged Mahogany and Peeled Paint distressed ink. The rose buds have the word "elieve" stamped at the bottom ... so cute. I stamped around the edges of my card using the leaves from the Studio 12 Pretty Petal Bunting set in peeled paint and blended around the edges. The postcard has been using Studio 12 Picknix CD using roses paper which has been faded out. I imported the postcard logo. All the other postage related stamps are from the Studio 12 Vintage Ephemera set . The letter are Thickers and I have glittered the capital "R" with black glitter for added texture an

Christmas .... with Polka Doodles and Premium Art Brands

Well it truly is unheard of for me to start any Christmas preparations before December but this year have to be a little more organised. My eldest son turns 21 the week before Christmas, so have two things to get ready for and that means "to do" lists already on the go! I'm a big "to do" list person but that doesn't necessarily mean that my lists ever get finished .... !     I had the honour to play with the NEW Polka Doodles stamps that Nikky designed for Premium Art Brands and fell in love with the Poinsettia set and made this bauble themed card ...     For my card base I drew around an old CD, cut the circles out and joined them with a strip of card (which I hope looks like the top of a bauble) so that my card could open and actually be used (most important). I have stamped the poinsettia using Aged Mahogany and Peeled Paint distress ink and then water coloured the images to give a soft effect. They are then layered up to create a

All things bright and beautiful ....

this is the theme for the Polka Doodles Challenge this week and I had great fun playing with loads of Polka Doodle stamps this week. Oooohhh, I have missed getting inky and creating really from scratch.   For my project I have used a selection of Studio 12 stamps and Polka Doodle stamps and have cheated a little by making the sentiment match the theme! Stamps used are Shabby Chic Roses , the heart is from " Distressed Zig and Zag " set and the sentiment was made using the " Distressed Typewriter Alphabet ". The background was created using the checkerboard stamp from " Wonderland Stamp Set " and I have used this stamp on the flowers and leaves for added definition. All images and sentiment are coloured with various distress inks. Finished with some ribbon and chipboard buttons which I have covered with left over Polka Doodle papers. Looking forward to seeing you what you create for the challenge and if you want to see more Polka Doodles lovl

Susan Weckesser at Studio 12

Here is my Studio 12 project and did you know that all the gorge Studio 12 stamps are back in stock over in the Polks Doodles shop ? ..... So very happy as can finally share some of my projects with you all. I have been dying to ink up the Studio 12 Susan Weckesser, " The purpose of Art " A6 stamp set for ages and had the perfect opportunity recently .... a new home card for my sons girlfriend ... married with the fab sentiment from " Home Sweet Home " A6 stamp set. I have stamped the house on to a heart (hand drawn) and added the sentiment as a banner. I just had to add the ribbon roses as Luke's girlfriend is called Rosie ......! The background was made by painting with white and blue acyrlic paints and when dry, I stamped the house images on to it as my starting point. I then stamped the "cityscape" wording on a thin strip of green card and stuck under my sky. Finally teraing the edges, top and bottom, and stuck my background d

Outside in pink ....

that's the challenge at Twisted Tuesday this fortnight. I have used a cute Saturated Canary image which reminds me of my niece when she was younger and probably cheated a little by using bunting as my outdoors thing ... I have these papers for ages and discovered them when I  was having a clean up. I think they are Papermania ones ..... but not 100% sure as they are out of their packet!!!The sentiment has been made using different rub on alphabets. I have used offcuts to create the bunting and decorated it with Card Candi, flowers and heart buttons, stapling the button to some ribbon. The ribbon is actually those silly bits that they put in your tops that serves no purpose, other than to decorate my cards.... hee, hee, hee! I have coloured my image with Flexmarkers and blended 2 colours together to create the two tone effect which doesn't show up that well in my photo. I am entering my card in to the following challenges: ABC Challenges - lots of layers Cr

CAS Christmas card

Well CAS cards are a complete challenge to me and it takes me ages to get my head around the fact that I have to put all my lovely bits away! After 4 attempts, I finally got the design to a CAS one .... I think ... I have used a Timmy folder from Cuttlebug as my main background and then cut a scalloped square from glitter paper using a Nellie Snellen die. The cute reindeer is a Kaiser Crafts stamp which I have embossed with copper embossing powder. The scallop border has been stamped with snowflake flourish stamp (Kaiser Craft) and embossed in white. The sentiment is from SU and embossed in the same copper powder. As my only embellie, I have given the reindeer a crystal gem nose! A quick post from me as very busy at the moment getting some sampes together for Nikky Hall from Polka Doodles as she is on Create and Craft on Sunday..... do you want a sneak peek? There are 4 fab new stamp sets to play with and they are so versatile to use. I had so many ideas but not enough time .
