You are simply the best ...

I just can't seem to stray away from these stamps for too long ... they call me back like a "Sea Siren" although I don't really  resist their urge. I now want Nikky to make dies to match them so it speeds up my making process ... hint, hint Nikky ... ! I haven't played with my pan pastels for absolutely eons and challenged myself today to get them out and have some fun. This is what I came up with ...

I masked off the centre of my card and used  the pan pastels to create the background. I have over stamped with Versamark which removed the pan pastels and left a relief. Next I used a stencil and a rubber to create even more bubbles. I then went in again with the versamark and stamped some more images but this time embossed them. Next came the images and I have used a selection from both the Tropical Underworld and the Tropical Oceans stamp sets.

My images have also been coloured with pan pastels and I have mainly used the colours from the mixed media set. I apply the colour in a wet form using a water brush with a fine pointed round end and once dry go over with dry pan pastels.

To seal the images I either use cheap hairspray or alternatively will emboss with clear embossing powder. The latter can give the images a very vibrant appearence. In this instance it was the rather smelly cheap hairspray. I really enjoyed myself and must get my pans out more often. I am sooooooooo determined to do so that I've left on my desk so they are in my eye line for the foreseeable future.

Loads to do this Sunday as I start round one of the Christmas shopping and have decided to be brave and go to the "real" shops. I'm sighing to myself already as really can't stand all the queues.

Have a great Sunday whatever you are planning to do,

Bonjour Henri ... ooohhh, la, la !

Not sure why I added the "ooohhh, la, la" but that was what was in my head when I typed my title, so I've just gone with the flow. Be grateful I'm saying it in my head as I'm the words are being spoken in my worst Inspector Couseau impersonation! As you are probably aware, Tonic Studios released a wonderful new collection of stamps and dies called "Marmalade's World" and so far I have shared 2 of my projects using Marmalade and Minnie and now it's time to say hello to Henri ...

Henri - Hair: 463, 465 (Natural Browns) and 491 (Stormy Greys)
         Jumper - 415 & 417 (Woodland Greens)
Shorts - 427 (Marina Blues)
Skin - 473 & 475 (Fair Skin Tones) and 449 & 451 (Rosy Pinks)
Luke:  477 (Fair Skin Tones) & 461 (Natural Browns)

I have made a 'no measure pop up box card' (aka Nikky Hall stylee) using Henri and his dog Luke (named by Loen yesterday) and quite a few of the accessory stamps and dies.

I began by creating the backing paper using the stamps, colouring the images with my Nuvo pens and then cutting them down to fit the layers. Any remaining images, I die cut to create my embellishments.

I did stamp out several other images too: hat, cake, balloons, colouring with Nuvo pens. At the back of the box, mounted on to acetate, are the balloons, hat and presents. Slightly in front of them are some more layered presents.

Next came Henri with his cake placard (stirring stick from well known coffee shop) and finally a further present plus the demanded for cake ... probably not as much as he would like .... It was amazing how far the backing paper went and will definitely try this trick again on future projects.

Just looked up from the computer and can't believe it's turning dark at 3:30pm .... far too early. So have lit up the candles and set the wax burners off, for a cosy feel to the afternoon. Well can't say night as it's too flipping early!

Hello Minnie ... but not the mouse !

Oh my it was a cold walk with dog and think at this rate I'll be trying to squeeze thermals under my clothes! Normally when you're on the move, it's not too great a problem but today there was a distinctive extra nip in the air. Need to also look for a new hat as mine is looking very sad for itself however I'm not sure I suit hats, so shopping for one will be a chore ... !

Today on Create & Craft TV, Tonic Studios launched a new collection called "Marmalade's World". It consists of character stamps, accessory stamps and matching dies. Here is another one of my projects but this time using Minnie ...

I began by cutting out the three circles from a piece of white card (slightly smaller than my card base), with my Celtic Circle layering dies and mounting with 3D foam on to my card base. Next on to Minnie ...

Skin - 473, 475 & 477 (Fair skin tones) & 451 on cheeks (Rosy Pinks)
Dress - 427 & 429 (Marina Blues) with white gel pen dots
Hair - 463, 465 (Natural Browns) & 491 (Stormy Greys)
Heart - 379, 381 (Rich Reds) & 491 (Stormy Greys)

I have stamped Minnie 3 times, coloured with my Nuvo pens and then placed her in to one of the three circle apertures. Each Minnie was then given a different accessory ...

Skin - 473, 475 & 477 (Fair skin tones) & 451 on cheeks (Rosy Pinks)
Dress - 379, 381 (Rich Reds) & 491 (Stormy Greys) with white gel pen dots
Hair - 463, 465 (Natural Browns) & 491 (Stormy Greys)
Crown - 405 (Sunshine Yellows), 391 (Fragrant Oranges) & 506 (Gold metallic)

Skin - 473, 475 & 477 (Fair skin tones) & 451 on cheeks (Rosy Pinks)
Dress - 437, 439 & 441 (Royal Purples)  with white gel pen dots
Hair - 463, 465 (Natural Browns) & 491 (Stormy Greys)
 Balloon - 427 & 429 (Marina Blues)

A relatively quick card to make and believe it or not, it wasn't the colouring that took the longest part ... it was making sure my circle apertures were all level! Have to own up and say, even with pencil lines on the back, took several attempts ...

Thanks for popping over,
