Phew . . . !

It's been a little hectic at "Chez Lou" at the moment with loads happening and not enough time to deal with it all. Things haven't gone to plan and I have missed things I really shouldn't of but couldn't avoid either . . . so apologies to anyone I have unintentionally ignored.

OK . . "Fab 'n' Funky" Challenges this week is sponsored by The Digistamp Boutique and we were allowed to choose an image from Tracy that we would like to "play with" . . . mwah to Tracy for her generosity. I chose the . . . well let's see if you can guess . . .

Isn't this image adorable and as soon as I saw it, I knew what I wanted to use it on . . . my sister & B-I-L's anniversary card. They celebrate their 1st anniversary really soon and I wanted to make a card that was a little different from the norm!

Papers; Basic Grey Sultry
Image: TSB "wagon full of hearts"
Coloured with Promarkers
Ribbons from stash

Here is a close up of the image which I have coloured with my Promarkers and this was a fun and easy image to colour too. I am also entering my card into the following additional challenges:

2S4U - great sketch this week and so versatile.

A spoon Full of Sugar - "Freestyle" which means make anything you like!

Caardvarks - Red heart challenge

Pile It On - theme is "Warm Wishes" and that's want I want to send in my card and I'm hoping it has a warm feel to it too!

Well better go as have loads of things to do and not enough hours or hands to complete them. I keep saying I will catch up with everyone and I promise that I will very, very soon. Until then, take care,

Not a card this time !

Hi there. I'm hoping this post works as am away on a course at the moment ! ! I have reset things, so fingers crossed the problems I had earlier in the week won't happen again . . . but can't promise . . . hee, hee, hee!

Over at Polka Doodles this week, we had to follow a great sketch drawn by the talented En plus use the colour combo of orange & red . . .

I had already made my sisters card (see post HERE) and needed something to put her present in so made a quick & easy box. I have used the sketch to decorate the front of the box.

Papers: Picnic Brights, "Back to Nature" CD
Spira Flowers from "Back to Nature" CD
Stamps: Flourish from "Daisy Doodles"
Gems, wire & bead from stash

I have used the picnic bright papers from the CD and stamped the gorgeous flourish design on to the papers. Pretty much followed the sketch and made 3 spira flowers to adorn the front. The decorative edges were made with my SU border punch.

A bit of inking and chalking around the edges and my box was complete. It doesn't show clearly here, but the outside edges of the box were also decorated (I promise) and you can just see a little glimpse!

I am also entering my box into the following challenges:

Simon Says - to get "punchy"

Kaboodle Doodle - make anything other than a card

Caardvarks - use the colour red

Hoping everyone is so pleased it's Friday . . . I know I will be when I get back home!

Yep, another birthday card !

I did say that I have oodles & oodles of birthday's in January and they're still coming thick & fast! I have made this card for a work colleague whose birthday is tomorrow!

Papers: MME
Image: Miss Jennifer from The Stamping Boutique
Flowers, button & ribbons from stash
Sentiment: SU

I took my inspiration for this card from the following challenges:

"Fab 'n' Funky" - colour combo this week of "blue, green & white"

Sketch Saturday - yep, used their sketch!

Passion for Promarkers - theme of "girls, girls, girls".

Quick post today as have loads to do and hoping that this scheduler thingy now works !

Another "HOT" card to share ! ! !

Only joking . . . I meant "hot" as in the sentiment I have used on the card . . . lol x The card was inspired by the fab new sketch over at Inspirational Card Sketches this week (#50) . . . yet another "corker" by Dawn.

ICS is sponsored this week by Fresh BrewedDesigns and we were very lucky as Heather let us choose an image that we wanted to play with . . . how generous. I chose the "loved up mug (!)" as I can see so many potentials for this image.

Papers: MME Bloom & Grow
Image: Fresh Brewed Designs
Sentiment made on PC
Coloured with Promarkers

Here is a close up of the image which I have layered to give more of an 3D effect to the mug & cupcake. Isn't it a sweet image?

I am also entering my card into the Caardvarks Challenge which is to use "red". Fab DT inspiration on their blog too . . . was drooling over the DT's cards.

Look forward to catching up with everyone soon . . . just need to get some time to do so and than I'll be away. In the meanwhile, take care,

Another "Thank You" card!

I made this card for a great friend, who I also have the pleasure of working with, to say "Thank You" for my pressie.

I used the fab sketch from the "Friday Sketches" blog as my "starting point" :

Papers: "Shabby Xmas" Funky Fairy's
Image: The Stamping Boutique
Sentimenr stamps: unknow!
Ribbons from stash
All punches: SU

I am also entering my card into the following challenges:

Charisma Cardz - Anything New - I have used my NEW Miss Jennifer image from The Stamping Boutique

Colour Create - to use Kraft, blue & white. Unfortunately I don't have any craft paper or card at mo as I have used it all (feel a spend coming on!) but have used brown as my alternative. They also had a further option of "texture". Mine has been created using the different ribbons.

Creative Inspirations - to use anything NEW

Now I did learn something NEW . . . well new to me that is ! Whilst colouring my image, I discovered my Sakura pens - glaze & stardust. I wanted to add shading to my image and thought I'd play with my blender pen and it worked ! ! ! I was able to play with the colour to create light & dark without loosing the glittery feel/shimmer from the Stardust pens. Definitely going to use this technique again.

Gotta dash (again) as youngest son is now feeling a little unwell with a stomach age . . . oh I dread tummy bugs . . . !

Learnt something new !

. . . not to muddle around with your blog settings if you don't know what you're doing ! ! ! Thought I'd try the new editor thing and without realising changed my time zones which meant anything I scheduled wasn't going to show up properly ! That'll teach me!

Also haven't been around as having celebrating the "old Birthday" with family and friends. As each year passes, it takes longer & longer to get over the "partying" . . . lack of sleep just cripples me. Oh to be able to burn the candle at both ends again!

Enough of my babble, gonna share one of my projects in this post and as time is now late, will share my other project tomorrow(ish!). This 1st project is a bag I made for a C&C show for the new Polka Doodles CD "Love, Marriage & More". It fits beautifully with the following challenges:

Polka Doodles: the theme is "LOVE" and this definitely fits the bill

- to use anything NEW. Well I used my NEW "Love, Marriage & More" CD to decorate the gift bag.

Creative Inspirations - again to use something "New" !

Crafty Creations - to use texture and I have done that with my embossing , ribbon & the large ostrich feather !

Kaboodle Doodle - anything but a card . . . yep, can deffo join in this time!

Well better go otherwise I'll never get up in the morning and have to be in work early . . . whoops!

Fab 'n' Funky Challenges

There is yet another "new look" Fab 'n' Funky Challenge blog . . Do you also like the make over ?

Now onto this weeks challenge which is a sketch . . . .

OK for the fun bit . . . you will get you 1 entry into the prize draw by joining in with the sketch challenge this week AND a further entry if use this weeks sketch with the added theme of "Birthday" , (because it's my birthday & I'm sponsoring the challenge this week), which means if you do both the sketch and the added theme, you get 2 entries into the draw. Fab 'n' Funky Challenges are also looking for someone to join us as a GUEST DESIGNER for the whole month of FEBRUARY and if you would like to be considered please put GD by your entry . . . we are a friendly bunch, although a little scatty as times!

Here is what I came up with . . .

Image: Magnolia Tilda
Insect stamps: Whimsy Garden by SU
Coloured with Promarkers
Button & cord from stash
Sentiment: Unknown

Steve came up with the card blank design whilst playing on the Craftrobo and I have adampted it for this weeks challenge. Very simple, clean card for me which was inspired by the rub on quote I found lurking in a drawer whilst having a tidy up !

I am also entering my card in to the following challenge:

La-La Land - to use shaped cards . . . any shape other than a rectangle! I think mine qualies due to the querky scallops !

Can't wait to see what you make with the sketch now and hope to catch up with some blogging tonight when all the domestic chores (yuk) are completed !

Better late than never !

Well . . . so much for being organised . . . I forgot to post my card for the latest ICS Challenge . . . so much went wrong yesterday: too much to mention and I think the Boom Town Rats song "I don't like Mondays" was written for me !

Anyhow enough of my woes and here's the latest ICS sketch:

It's my friend Karen's birthday on Friday so I used the sketch as my inspiration for her card.

Papers: Unknown but found when tidying up!
Sentiment: TLC rub on
Brad & ribbon from stash

I also made Karen a box containing some birthday cards as a small present - 6 in total with matching envelopes made from the same paper. I have also used the sketch for these cards but the decoration is definitely on the minimal side ! ! !

Gotta dash as I have now got to be organised and be up for an early meeting at school tomorrow and I've also remembered I've still got to make our bed !

A scrapbook page ! !

Yep, don't die of shock but I have started to make sure that I do at least one page a month (part of New Years Resolutions). Scrapbooking is way out of my comfort zone as I am not always sure what to do ! I have decided to subscribe to a magazine so that I can get more ideas, layouts etc and hopefully improve my confidence.

So, nervously I am entering my page into the "Scrap and Stamp" challenge this week which is "Family" . . .

I have used papers from the fab NEW "Love, Marriage & More" CD which Nikky l(from Polka Doodles) launched today on Create & Craft and this page was actually one of my DT pieces ! Silly Nigel didn't bother showing it though . . . boo hiss to Nigel ! ! ! lol x

The photo's were taken eons ago when both lads were a wee bit smaller and Steve could actually put them on his shoulders . . . I don't think he could even pick them up now even if he tried. The boys loved these gargoyles and if they could of, would of climbed them . . . but us being sensible parents said "no" !

Here's Aaron . . .

and here's Luke . . .

All the embellies are also from the same CD but the paper ribbons have been made by cutting up the squiggle paper, random folding, a wee bit of chalking & then stapling them to the page - simple ! The text was made using my PC. I used the flourish stamp from "Daisy Doodles" on the corners and other parts of my page.

I am also entering my page into the following challenges:

Three Clover Designs -the theme is to make a project that represents one of your New Years resolutions. Now the page doesn't reflect my New Years Resolutions but is actually one of my resolutions which is to scrap my photo's at least once a month . . . so I am hoping that my page can qualify for this challenge !?!?!

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday? I'm off to prep for my art course tomorrow and fingers crossed, the snow will not stop me from getting there !

Song Title challenge !

Ruth over at Polka Doodles challenged the DT to make a project using a "song title" as their inspiration. She also asked us to use the fab "Back to Nature" CD too.

I have actually made 2 things for this challenge but 1 is a touch tenuous ! ! ! January is a heavy month birthday wise for me and I'm desperately trying to be organised although slipping behind already as I forgot to do my post for this challenge . . . ! I blame it on the "snow madness" that is around at the mo - freezing your brain so that cognitive thought just disappears . . . in my case it could just be a case of "senior moment-itus" popping in to visit.

My first card is inspired by the Stevie Wonder song "Happy Birthday to you" and I made the card for my niece. I have found it hard to photograph because of the acetate :

Papers: Picnic Brights from "Back to Nature CD"
Card blank cut on Craft Robo
Flowers also from "Back to Nature" CD

The 2nd card and yet another box (!) were made for another S-I-L who turned 40 (and not happy about her significant birthday !!). The song title I used as my inspiration is "A good heart" by Fergal Sharkey.

Papers: Picnic Brights from "Back to Nature" CD
Spira & Stacker flowers from same CD
Sentiment stamp from SU
Flourish stamp from "Daisy Doodles"
Ribbon & button from my stash!

I love this SU sentiment stamp which reads "Joy is not in things, it is in us" - such a fab saying and suitable for oodles of occasions. Have you also noticed that I haven't put any number on the card as I knew Nadine would not be best pleased ! I have made the box using exactly the same papers, embellies & stamps and it housed Nadine's present - a necklace, matching bracelet & chunky ring . . . which I also forgot to photograph . . doh!

Here is a photo of the 2 items together. The box is actually very large as the card is a 15cm square card ! !

I am also going to enter my card into the following challenges:

"Fab 'n' Funky" - making anything for any occasion !

One Stop Craft Challenge - "Something beginning with B" - my "B"'s are box & button using the "Back to Nature" CD !

Cute Card Thursday - "All New" - well I have used the NEW Polka Doodles CD for my papers etc.

Papertake Weekly - "Something New" - as above I have used my NEW Polka Doodles CD !

ABC Challenge - "L is for layering" and have definitely used lots of layering although primarily with my embellishments !

Pile it on (Challenge #30) - "Clear" - I have used acetate for my first birthday card.

Daring Card Makers - "Garnet" - the colour I have chosen definitely falls into the birthstone category . . "garnet" and also it's for a January birthday too !

I think that's enough challenges for my projects don't you and off to do some serious blog hopping as haven't really had a chance so far this week.

Happy Fridays everyone and if you're driving anywhere, please do take care,

Have a "Fab 'n' Funky" day !

The great theme over at "Fab 'n' Funky" challenges is to "make anything you want for any occasion" and that was just OK for me as I have oodles and oodles of "Thank You" cards still to make, so I have taken the opportunity to get some more made ! I have made quick , bright & simple cards which can be "mass produced", although I think they still need a further something . . but not sure what though ?!?!?!

Here's set 1

closely followed by set 2

I've made 4 of each design and only another 22 more to make . . . bet get cracking on with things me thinks ! ! !

Happy Wednesday everyone,

My 1st "birthday" make of 2010 !

Well how's 2010 been to you so far? I'm absolutely shattered to say the least and have definitely decided that I am now too old to burn the candle at both ends ! The days when I could be up to the wee hours of the morning and then be able to get up several hours later bright & breezy have definitely gone . . . my poor body & head are still suffering and I am working at a very slow pace . . . however I refuse to let my body win and will preserve at being old "disgracefully" ! lol x

Now ICS is back up and invigorated after our festive break and a big thank you to everyone who joined in with us. This week there is another fabby sponsor . . . Soft Pencil . . . so if you want to win the fab prize, pop over to the blog and join us.

Now January is another busy month for our family. We have several significant birthdays this month . . . two 40th's and an 18th birthday, then there's my younger sisters birthday, my birthday, my step-mum's and 3 of my friends . . . so I have been busy already making my cards & presents as I didn't want to fall behind !

Using ICS #48 as my inspiration, I have made both the card and box for my S-I-L Mandy's 40th birthay. Many is a real "girly girl" so have gone for something pink . . . which isn't me !

All the papers are from Polka Doodles "Back to Nature" CD and I have then over stamped them with 2 different flower stamps from the Daisy Doodles set, which I thought matched the adorable "Blossom" image from Sugar Nellie.

I have coloured the image with my Promarkers and added a little "sparkle" with my Sakura Stardust pens. A huge flower bloom has been added to finish off the decoration.

Finally, here is the matching box, again made using the sketch as my Inspiration with a few more huge blooms and a touch of doodling ! Inside the box is a handmade bracelet, necklace & ring which I forgot to photograph . . . whoops !

I am also entering my card & box into the Charisma Cardz Challenge this week as they are having a mega whopper birthday celebration challenge and a fabby prize filled blog hop . . . well off to go a hopping . . . . . !

Happy crafting everyone and will be visiting everyone really soon,

The first round of "Thank you" cards !

Christmas and New Years cards are finally finished and it's onto the next theme . . . Thank You cards! . . . which is the theme for the next C.R.A.F.T Challenge.

I was brought up to always send a card or note or even a letter to say "Thank You" for any gift (etc) I was given. My parents believed that it was important that I recognised how people also gave up their time to look for my present and I should also thank them for doing that too. Nowadays my nieces and nephews either forget to say "thanks" or rattle off a quick text or leave a message on Facebook but I suppose I could be deemed as "old fashioned" ! However both my boys don't bat an eyelid when I ask them to do their "Thank Yous", so I'm hoping that when they have their families, they will carry on the tradition of writing a handwritten note to express their "thanks".

I was inspired by the great sketch in "2S4U" last week and used this as my inspiration to rattle off some quick & simple "Thank You" cards. I was so busy that I forgot to enter my cards for last weeks challenge too ! Oh well, there's always another week !

Here are the 1st batch which I thought were a little more comical & would be great to use for the boys in my class who gave me Christmas presents . . .

I used my fishy Stampin Up wheel for the background and then layered torn strips on top of each other. The sentiment is also from SU which has been layered to give a 3D look. I have made 6 of these cards in total ! Sorry about the poor photo's . . will try and retake me thinks!

The 2nd batch, I suppose are a little more girly and Luke has ear marked them for several aunts who sent him vouchers & money for his birthday. Luke 's birthday is 19th December and each year he always sends 2 "Thank You" cards - 1 for his birthday and 1 for Christmas. I made him 6 of this design as they were very quick to mass produce.

Bet get on with the rest now as I have over 50+ more cards to make . . . . . ,
