Premium Craft Brands and a canvas ....

The theme this week over on the Pan Pastels Challenge Blog is "water" and I knew in my head what I wanted to do but trying to put it in to a tangible project, was a little trickier! Also must say forgive the different background photos ..... finding a good location, at the right time, at the right angle etc to fully show off the iridescence, has been a struggle ...

I primed the canvas with gesso and left it to dry. Whilst drying, I mixed blue acrylic paint with some dust from the metallic pewter pan pastel which looked so shiny and glistening together. Once the canvas was dry I painted the paint mixture over the entire canvas and the sides. I wasn't so patient this time and used my heat tool to dry it (lol).

 

I then added a good dollop of the iridescent paste to the paint mixture and using the 12"x12" "dots with edges" mask, applied my new paint/paste mixture on to the canvas with a palate knife. The pattern it leaves is stunning and have to be honest at this point, just wanted to stop!!! Once this was dry, I lightly covered the canvas with the soft silver metallic pan pastel which really made the canvas "shine". I still had quite a bit of the iridescent paint mixture left, so using the same mask, I quickly applied the paint paste to a piece of white card and a piece of glitter paper.

 

 

I have used these extra pieces to die cut different shapes; the frame and waves. The other die cuts are from plain (!) white card. I have layered the die cuts to look like waves at the bottom of the canvas and to have somewhere to frame my phrase.

 

Not the "tit- ter-vating " began and I had great fun. The stones were raided from my card and as I didn't want them to look "new", I didn't wash them (okay, I wiped them down in case there was an insect yuk on them). The little bottle I found in a drawer, so it has been filled with iridescent paste and little blue hearts. The leaves are plastic and were from Poundland last Christmas. I have just dusted the edges with gold metallic pan pastels for an extra bling effect.

 As a final finishing touch, I have used the pearl paste to create underwater bubbles with a few chipboard buttons & brads too!.

Well I'm gotta dash as am at a hockey tournament with Aaron today and am hoping the blue sky stays with us until it ends! Am a bit hockey'd out, as was out all day yesterday too ..... who says kids are inactive now-a-days ...!
