A "Dolly Day Dream" tag ...

Nikky Hall of Polka Doodles will be launching a new CD very soon ... Tuesday 21st January 2014 on Create and Craft TV ... and I have been very lucky to be allowed to have a play with all the yumminess that is on there. The new CD is called "Dolly Day Dreams" and is indeed very girly which is lucky as this fits in with this weeks Polka Doodles Challenge theme ...


I decided to make a tag using one of the new girl images as my focus. I printed the image on to tissue paper and then triple embossed her with clear detailed powder. This has given the image a translucent look (which is what I was trying to create) as I wanted her to blend in to my background.

The backgrounds have been using scraps of different papers, glued together and then covered in iridescent paste using the letter stencil from Premium Craft Brands. They have then been highlighted using Pewter and Soft Silver pan pastels.

I fell in love with this sentiment "I wasn't born a princess but if the crown fits ..." and knew I wanted to use in on my tag .... so ... I quickly doodles a crown shape around the sentiment, cut it out, layered on to black card and then embellished. The whole crown has a fine highlight of the Soft Silver metallic pan pastel for added sheen (which sadly the photo doesn't show).

 

The other sentiment that I also HAD to use is "Always act as if you are wearing an invisible crown", so I have cut the sentiment up, layered several times and then placed the bits on my tag. With some additional heart embellishments, ribbons and flowers, my tag was finished.
