Adding texture with pan pastels
Well it's Sunday again and that means a new challenge at Premium Craft Brands Pan Pastel Challenges and the theme this week is all about adding texture .. the more the merrier.
I have made a tag for this weeks challenge and used Dutch Doobadoo Fabric Art as my base. I lightly covered the denim material with silver metallic pan pastel to add a little shimmer. I also frayed the edges.
I have used the Haberdashery stamp set from Studio 12 and coloured the images with raw umber pan pastel. To add a shine, I have covered the images with Versamark and then clear detail embossing powder. The sentiment is from the same set which I have stamped with Versamark and then coloured with raw umber pan pastel and then embossed as per other images. I framed the image with a silver frame which I found amongst my stash ... need to organise my things one of these days!
I have added frilly layers using a doily, Dutch Doobadoo swirls, buttons and butterfly laser cuts. The buttons have been coloured with pan pastel and again embossed with clear detail powder. The manikin has an added bit of pleat ribbon which I have also added to the bottom of the stamped tape measure. The backing paper is a scrap from a book tinted with raw umber pan pastel.
The flower has been made using an old shirt cut with pinking shears, rolled and then stuck in to place. I have used little blue ribbon roses in amongst the petals/ruffles. The tag has been finished with a huge ribbon bow.
Domestic goddess day for me today as have a birthday cake to bake as my son turns 16 tomorrow: a triple layered chocolate brownie cake and it will have candles on it even if he doesn't want them!
Have a great Sunday and hope you're getting the fine weather we are experiencing at the moment.
