"Sweet as honey" with Doobadoo
This is the theme for the next challenge over on "We Doobadoo" UK challenge blog and I have decided to base my card around the words ..... so no bees in sight I'm afraid. That doesn't mean that I do not like bees but just didn't feel the "buzz" this week.
I was given a set of beautiful postcards a long while back which I put away for safe keeping as they were just too precious too use ..... several years later, I have decided that they are just to precious not to use! The girl image is so sweet and using this as my inspiration, I have created a new baby card.
I have used the Doobadoo Shape Art 2 template to create my card base. I cut a further layer out using a honeycomb effect paper (from Teresa Collins) and for added interest, have embossed the paper with the template, highlighting the embossing with my pan pastels.
Very simple layers as didn't want to lose the main image. I have also framed a die cut sock which has been decorated with "Wonder Web" as have run out of webbing/netting. Wonder Web for those of you who traditionally sew and do not cheat, is a material that can be ironed in place to repair damaged seams.
I have added "Wonder Web" and ribbon to the bottom edge of my card and some Thicker stickers. I didn't like the original colour of the stickers (poo brown colour), so I have altered them by covering the stickers with Perfect medium, then using the metallic bronze pan pastel and a gold GraphIt Shaker pen. They are now lovely and shiny but in a much more subtle way.
I have added some gorgeous Doobadoo laser cut butterflies, honeycomb soft board, laser cut feathers and laser cut buttons to my card. I had a little eureka moment as have found that the feathers make excellent butterfly wings, so create a butterfly shape with them and then placed a butterfly on top: looks FAB in real life and still retains the delicate feel.
Apologies for taking an age to get my project on but my first project suffered a severe and devastating accident .... ! Let's just say that instead of floating on top of the spilt water, it rapidly sank .... enough said.
Have a great day everyone,
Lou
