Summer at Pan Pastel Challenges.

The theme this fortnight is "Summer/Summer fun" over at Pan Pastel Challenges and I have decided to use the warm, hot and sultry colours linked to summer to create my project ... another 6"x6" canvas.

I began by priming my canvas with Maimeri Gesso and once dry, tinted the background with my pan pastels; yellow ochre, dairylide yellow, magenta, permanent red and bronze. I have over stamped the edges using the wonderful stamp sets from Premium Craft Brands and either tinted the images with pan pastels or embossing powder. As a final touch, I used the small circles mask from Doobadoo to add a further layer.

I used the same mask on my oval layer to add both texture and interest. I again over stamped the edges with the Dandelion flower (from Premium Craft Brands) and then lightly colour tinted the panel.

On a separate piece of card, I stamped the clock images, (adding their centres and hands), the butterfly (twice) and the "Time is precious" sentiment. I lightly coloured all images using the same pan pastels as I used on my background. The only thing that remained untouched was the sentiment.

I layered the images on to the oval panel in a random way making sure that some images were higher than others. To set the butterfly off, I added two decorated pins (to represent the antennae) and framed these using a 7 Gypsies metal frame. Although the frames are bronze, I covered them in Versamark and used the metallic bronze pan pastel to add shine and warmth. I used an oval frame on the sentiment (die cut out first) but have left this frame untouched as wanted the sentiment to stand out (from the crowd, as it were).

The top right corner now looked bare (to me), so I added a further butterfly and also framed that (colour tinting the frame as before).

As a finishing touch, I added some Tim Holtz tissue tape along the bottom and stamped the words "tomorrow" and "future" and embossed them with white detail embossing powder. Stamps are from Studio 12. Phew, think that just about covered everything but shout if I have missed anything!

Off to catch up with some neglected paperwork today and tomorrow as I have tried to ignore the huge pile but the letters just won't grow legs and walk away ....

Lou
