PART TWO - Shabby Chic picture with Doobadoo

Last week I shared how I created my vintage inspired dress using Dutch Doobadoo laser cut feathers and "Wonder Web", (see here). This week, I thought I would share my finished picture with you using the dress.

The current theme at We Do Doobadoo is "Shabby Chic", so my picture takes inspiration from those two words ........

My picture base was made by using the cardboard from inside a ring binder. The binders plastic outside was torn revealing the card inners. I have used one of these inners to create my picture as they are very sturdy and will take all the layers of glues and mediums I wanted to throw at it.

I began by covering the card in gesso and once dried, I then used the flower heart stencil from PCB to create my background. I mixed the light modelling paste with soft gold metallic pan pastel to create a shimmering, raised background. You can just about see the background in the photo above.

Next, using some postcards from a recent charity shop rummage, I layered them on top of each other to create a further background for the dress to sit against. I then stamped around the edges of the whole piece using a Kaiser Craft stamp set and whilst the ink was still slightly wet, I dusted over the images with the soft gold metallic pan pastel. As an added textural thing, I used Dutch Doobadoo laser art corner flourishes to create extra borders.

I used a doily and a die cut heart to create the perfect background for my dress to sit against and glued it down using a hot glue gun. I then began to add further embellishments to the picture and to add extra interest, I framed the embellishments. Some of the frames have been secured with eyelets and some with brads ..... no particular reason why, just that I did!

To match the frames,  I used some metal letters (both from 7 Gypsies) to create the word "Adore". I found some fabric hearts whilst rummaging in a drawer and I gently dusted them with soft gold metallic pan pastel and stuck them in place. At this point, I finally decided my picture was finished and quickly walked away before I threw anymore embellishments at it ..... lol.

Think that is everything but if I have missed anything or you would like me to explain some of the stages in greater detail, please do ask.

Am off now to take the dog for a walk along the beach before the rain comes in. Have a great weekend everyone,

Lou
