!It's Christmas" over at Polka Doodles ..

Yep, the theme this fortnight over at Polka Doodles Challenges is "Christmas". I don't know about you but I am not very organised when it comes to Christmas ... cards normally sent (and written) late, present wrapping on Christmas Eve and just general faffing really. I blame my lack of organisation on the fact that we did not "get ready" for Christmas until after Luke's birthday (eldest son) which meant everything was indeed a rush ..... however as he no longer lives at home, I can't use that as a continued excuse (damn)!

I have dug out my much neglected Christmas Paper Boutique CD which is jammed packed with oodles of 3D card templates. I decided to use the pre-coloured post box templates and merrily printed off the 3 pages to make an A5 card. Nikky includes so many layers for us so you can add as many of as little as you require. I decided to make 2 cards in the end and each is heavily layered. Here is card 1 which I have made into a post box shaped card ......

The main image comes as shown (with out all the layers) so I stuck it to an A5 card blank and once dry, cut around the outside leaving a white border.

I have added at least 3 layers to my card and took extra time to make sure the post box really curved (which my photo doesn't show but hey, ho) and that the snow was piled high on the top.

I added an extra robin to the bottom and some Tattered Lace die cuts with lickle glittered hearts as a finishing touch.

Here is a close up of all the snow layers, which I have embossed with my Swiss Dots embossing folder and highlighted each dot with glitter. I also sneaked in some other die cuts (Tattered Lace) to give even more depth and a larger heart on the side.

Now after making that card, I still had another complete image and oodles of layers, so rather than waste them, made another card but this time I stuck the post box image to acetate.

I have used the same techniques and die cuts as above but as my card is on an acetate front, decided that I better decorate the inside too ....

As before I added some die cuts to the snow layers and finished them off with some Doodle Dewdrops and red Liquid Pearls.

Few, think that's everything but the longest part to making this card was the cutting out .... however you savvy electronic machine owners amongst us, would no doubt have completed this task a 100 times quicker (lol).

Gotta dash as need to get organised as am helping with decorating a marquee for a friend's wedding tomorrow but hope everyone has a great weekend.
