Happy Birthday inspiration week with Pan Pastels

Although Pan Pastel Challenges has a fortnightly theme, we do have an inspiration post mid challenge to further inspire crafters to get their pan pastels out and have some messy (or clean) fun. This week is no exception and the fabulously talented Pan pastel team have again pulled out all the stops. Pop over to the blog and check out the wonderful projects.

For my mid challenge inspiration, I have decided to paint and colour my images with pan pastels using a new stamp I received as a birthday present ..... thank you to my crafty Ninja's for a wonderful stamp I can see myself using time and time again.

I recently went to my local Oxfam Book Shop and asked about books they couldn't sell and what they do with them. Being an avid readeer, the thought of desicrating a book makes me shudder but instead I bought a selection of damaged books that I can now use in my crafting. Win, win sirtuation. I stamped the image on to a book page and then covered certain areas with 3 circles of post its. Using my pan pastels, I then coloured the background.

On other book pages, I restamped the image and coloured the flowers with magenta and metallic bronze pan pastels. I cut the flowers out, covered them with perfect Medium and embossed with clear embossing powder. I layered up the flowers and added a Dutch Doobadoo laser cut button for the centres.

I have used 2 chipboard butterflies as embellishments and covered them with magenta and metallic bronze pan pastels and embossed them with clear embossing powder. The sentiment is from a StampIn Up set and I have over stamped it with the flourish part of the stamp, embossing with clear detail powder. Unfortunately you can not see it clearly in the photo. As a finishing touch, I added 3 little hearts embellished with Cosmic Shimmer peral glue.

I'm having a blogfest day today as I am so far behind with catching up with everyone, so better sign off and get going ... have a great day everyone and thanks for popping over,

Lou

I struggle with altering an actual book, but what better way to share the beauty of the pages of a book that may have been tossed aside than with a creation like this! Love the florals, your colors and that clear embossing! Thank you for sharing with us at Tuesday Throwdown Have a beautiful day! ~Donna K

Happy 5th Birthday Polka Doodles

Happy Birthday to Us!!   TODAY IS POLKADOODLES FIFTH BIRTHDAY - WOOHOOO!!! Firstly, if you arrived here from Kath's blog as part of the blog hop, then you're in the right place!  I'd just like to take the opportunity to thank all of you for supporting Polka Doodles over the past 5 years, we've seen so many changes in the industry and we still love what we do and get such a thrill with every new product we release. It's so awesome that all of you keep on supporting us along the way and we know that we wouldn't be here without that great support. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Nikky and Kris, for being brave enough to let me join the Polka Doodles team 5 years ago! We thought we needed something special to celebrate our 5th Birthday.... so Nikky decided to celebrate by designing a special Digistamp for each of us 5 'Originals' along with a great little paper bundle (which was also designed specifically for ea

Legacy Keep Dies from Tonic Studios to make an album page.

Hi everyone. Have you been enjoying Tonic Studios 17th birthday celebrations on Hochanda? Oh my goodness, so many wonderful die collections and Nuvo products to choose from, each as much fun to 'play' with ... oh yes they are, trust me 😏😍😉 This weekend, Jodie is launching a set of dies called 'Legacy Keeper' which are part of the Memory Book range. For my first project share using these dies, I have used them to create an album page for this album - made using Memory Book 2  ...   The front is decorated with the new Treasured Tome A4 embossing folder creating an embossed acetate layer on top. Gotta go off topic here and say did you see Jodie & Janice trying to pronounce the embossing folders name? So very funny ...! Okay, back to the album ... I often create an acetate layer to act as a protective cover to the front of my albums especially if you have a photograph on the front.

A mini album made using the NEW keepsake from Tonic Studios - Life's Journey

On Wednesday, Jodie Johnson launched the new Life's Journey Keepsake Collection of dies from Tonic Studios on Create & Craft, which compliment the existing memory book dies. It was a huge success and sold out within the hour! I was very lucky and managed to play with the dies making samples for the show - well it was meant to be shows. For one of my samples I made a travel journal themed album with a male slant ...
