"Happy Birthday" with Pan Pastels
Oh my another week has flown past and we are half through January already! Slow down 2015, please ...... ! I was very lucky and received lots of wonderful cards and presents in the week for my birthday making me feel very spoilt indeed. I'm off today to spend some of my vouchers today so have got my comfortable clothes and boots on as feel a mammoth walking session happening .... can't wait!
The challenge this fortnight over at Pan Pastel Challenges is "Happy Birthday" and as it is my step-mother's birthday next weekend, so I used the challenge to give me the inspiration to create her card.
I have used the wonderful Premium Craft Brands heart stencil to create my background and I used a new technique (to me) to create my background. I covered the stencil with Perfect Medium and then carefully covered this with magenta pan pastel. I then run the stencil through my Grand Calibar and voila, the stencil both embossed and coloured at the same time ..... little scream of delight followed by a happy dance ensued.
On a piece of light kraft card , I again covered the same stencil with Perfect Medium and ran it through the Grand Calibar. This time I embossed the result with clear embossing powder. Next, I cut the heart in to tiles and layered them on to my background.
I have had this stamp set for eons (Roses by Joanna Sheen) and decided that as one of my goals this year is to use my older stash and not always succumb to buying the next greatest thing ..... being 100% honest, this won't last but I am still going to mix my older items with my newer purchases ...! I created a thick paste using magenta pan pastel and then carefully pressed the stamp in to this, stamping the image on to some dotty paper I found in my "scraps box". I them water coloured the images using the same mixture and once dry, cut the flowers out. I repeated the process for the leaves using permanent green shade pan pastel.
I then layered my flowers around the tiles, adding a cosmic shimmer pearl centre. Finally I added a "Mother" rub on as my sentiment .... see I did say that I would use up my rub ons in a previous post, and so far, I'm keeping to it.
Phew, think that's everything and now all I need to do is create a box for my card.
Have a great day everyone and I'm signing off as a day of shopping is awaiting me. Tonight though, I am going to catch up with all my blogging as I have not had the time this week to look properly at everyones wonderful projects.

I guess as a crafter it's expected of us to try to use what we have, but companies make it hard to not want to get the new "shiney" toy! best of luck to you! :)
