"Love is in the air" ..... with pan pastels
One of my New Years resolutions I am going to try and stick to in 2015, is to do more scrapbook pages. I'm not ready to embrace "Project Life" just yet as still feel the need to create a page so I can remember all the feelings from the photograph whilst I hurl all my crafty stash at the page ... mind you picking a photograph to use, needs to drastically speed up!
Here is a page I recently made combining stamping and die cutting. I chose the photo because myself and Mr S will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary this year ... remember the day well (as I should) but primarily as we got married around the World Cup. Luckily England weren't playing until the Monday after our wedding. However they were playing Ireland and being of Irish extraction, there were one or two heated conversations around the pending result ... which ended in a 1 - 1 draw (phew).
Anyhow, on to my page .....
I used a locked key stencil to create my first background using Maimeri Glassy Gel and Iridescent paste. Once dry, I brushed white acrylic paint on the edges (using my finger) to highlight the rough edges. I added slight shading using raw umber pan pastel.
Next I created my central panel with water colour card tearing the edges. The photograph was mounted on to light kraft card and again, the edges were torn. I added die cut layers to the top right corner, finishing off with a butterfly. On the opposite side, I placed chipboard banners and another butterfly. All die cuts were aged with pan pastels and white acrylic paint.
I added the dress (tattered Lace Mannequin die) cutting it from the same light kraft card. The underneath layer was made by drawing around the die and cutting this out.
The heart is a Premium Craft Brands stencil covered in Maimeri iridescent paste, colour tinted with raw umber pan pastel and white acrylic paint. On the heart I have placed my stamped image - Tatty Twinkle "Friends" which was stamped in Walnut Stain distress ink (on to the light kraft card) and water coloured with the same ink. I added a few white highlights using a Prisma Colour pencil(s).
Finally I added some random stamping (from the same tatty Twinkle set), brads and lace.
The wording I wanted to keep simple and decided on "I do" using 2 different type of Thicker stickers. The "happy" phrase was taken from a "Happy Birthday" sentiment, cut three times in black card.
All the die cuts have been tinted with white pearlescent pan pastel and raw umber on the edges. It gives a slight shimmer but aged look to them all. The only one not treated this way was the black one in the centre ... it has white paint on it.
Thinks that's everything as I'm not sure my fingers could type anything else. Well better get going as Sunday chores are looming. Have a great day,
Lou
