Distressing Santa ...

I fancied a bit of messy play today but also wanted to use a great Santa image from the new Polka Doodles Picknix 3 release .... so, I printed the image and began to "mess with Santa" ...

Now before I begin, this is a photo heavy post but I think the photos are needed to explain each process. Myself, I am a photo person and whilst I do read the instructions, I do also use photos to help explain what I haven't read properly!

I coloured the image in with my Lyra Pencils trying to recreate a "wash out" older feel to the image ...

Next, I cut the image out and added some glitter to the Santa along with pearlescent highlights using my white pearl pan pastel ...

and then tripled embossed the image adding specks of different coloured embossing powder in each layer ...

Finally I creased the image to create cracks .... and it definitely now does not look like a digi image!

Now to create my card. I decided to make a wallet card to hold a gift voucher or gift card.

The postcard on the front was given the same treatment as the Santa stamp image. I added the Christmas tree image and stocking stamp to the postcard before beginning the colouring/embossing process ...

On to the inside using the papers and images from Picknix 3 ...

This photo shows you were the pocket can be found and there is enough room to add more than one gift card, (if your feeling extra generous or the person has been really good this year).

Finally, (phew) here are some photos of the front of the finished card ...

and a view from the top ...

Do you know what? I am really pleased how this card turned out as the vision in my head has translated to the finished project and believe me, sometimes that is a real struggle.

Right, the weekend begins and I have another action packed, rivoting weekended planned: decorating and gardening. I know I'll be exstatic once everything is done, it's just getting myself motivated to start.

Happy Friday everyone,

Lou

This is stunning, I love the treatment you've given it and it doesn't look like a digi at all.
