Best Friends using book pages

Oh my ... been a bit busy over at "Chez Sims" with a wonderful family wedding to attend. Firstly mum flew over on Thursday and we've been out and about (before the wedding), which meant I am way behind on my blogging and sharing of my projects using some of the wonderful releases from Tonic Studios during their 10 day event at Hochanda. So now, I have oodles of things to share and am going to start with this project using the Whimsical Frame stamps and matching dies ...

Using a preloved book, I created my base layer, tearing the edges. I am very lucky as our local Oxfam book store also sell books that have broken spines, missing pages or covers etc, so no "good" book was damaged to make my project. I also stamped the flower stamp (from Whimsical Frames Sending Big Hugs set) on to the book pages and used the matching die to cut them out. I repeated this process with the butterfly from Whimsical Frames Best Friends Forever set.

Next, I stamped the frame from Whimsical Frames Hello Sweetie-Pie set firstly on to white card and twice on to patterned paper, cutting all out. Cutting the patterned paper frames in half, I created a larger topper, sticking them on to the back of my mat layer. This is where I placed the stamped frame. (please see above photo if my description is a little confusing 😁).

Behind the stamped frame, I have added some paper banners ( to match) a some ribbon. Layering the flowers, (using book pages and patterned paper), to create 3D roses, finishing them with a pearl gem.

I also layered the butterfly the same way too. The die cut circular border was created using the Intrica Wild Vine Circle die set, which adds a little interest and breaks up all the patterns.

I hope you enjoyed watching all the shows and the wonderful demos by Jodie and Paula. I know I had great fun playing with all the new items ... loving how Tonic Studios are branching out and the products they are now bringing to all us crafters.

Right better get on as have loads more photos to sort and blog posts to write ... plus the dreaded housework which has been neglected ...,

Lou
