Love to create - You & Me ...
Sunday and it's definitely my day of rest today as next week I am decorating. I find getting started not my problem but do run out of steam as the end draws nearer, so am hoping this new plan will work ... all I can say is watch this space! I found this cool website that allowed me to have a play at a mood board (www.canva.com), putting together a photo montage of my eclectic, random(ish) decorating ideas ...
What do you think? I had great fun collating ideas and have now found some brilliant shops to have a mooch in - on line and high street - to buy accessories. In the 'real world', all the supplies have been amassed and I have created a real life/textural/full of samples 'mood board'; hopefully to keep track on my ideas. Getting excited now over decorating! Who would have thought ...!
Right better get on to the job at hand for today and that's sharing my latest project for Love 2 Create Challenges. A tag shaped card made as a sample for the launch of the Regal Peacock stamp soup set by Nikky Hall on Create & Craft ...
I began by scrapping off some magenta and permanent red, mixing them with water on my glass mat. Next I swooshed the tag through the colour ensuring every piece of the white card was covered, creating deeper areas of colour and removing colour with a wet wipe. Leaving the tag to dry, I started on my embellishments.
I began by die cutting some labels, Elegant Flourish and the Elegant Nest die cuts. Using the inside lines of the dies, I created the mat layers with recycled book pages and using Nikky Halls stitch tool, I created the faux stitching around the edges. Next I stamped the hearts, colouring the same as my background.
I tore a piece of the book pages and distressed with black pan pastel and again added some faux stitching. Next I stamped a design on to the ribbon and highlighted with silver pan pastel.
Now that my tag was dry, I began stamping designs on to the background in black & grey. Before colouring the images, I added some silver and white pearl dust to a little water - in a spritzer bottle - and spritzed the background. I dried off these highlights with my heat gun.
Next using the silver pan pastel, I coloured the images but found that they now looked a little harsh. Taking the white pearl medium, I went over the edges of the tag blending out with the colourless blender. This added a fabulous shine to my tag.
Before layering on to my tag card blank, I again added faux stitching to the edge. Now the fun faffing time ... placing all the elements. I stapled ribbon to the tags, added black twine plus some flourish die cuts to the larger tag. Finally I stamped out the 'you' and 'me' on to book pages, tearing around the words. I did have a momentous faff time deciding whether to add ribbon to the top of the tag but finally decided against it because I felt it took away from my main focal point, the hearts & labels. Do you agree or should I add it?
Adore how the background turned out and love the shine created from the all the layering of pan pastels. Now think this would look cool in blues and purples with a snowy/frosty feel ... uummmm, maybe my next Love 2 Create Challenges project ...
Right off to thoroughly lounge around before my messy week begins. If you get the chance, pop over to the challenge blog, check out my teamies projects and join in with us.
