Pretty girly mixed media tag using Bubbky Funk 'Through the letterbox' kits...
Hi everyone, popping in on this cold snowy day to share another of my projects created by using up different elements from the January 'Seeing Stars' and February's 'Love Is' Through the Letterbox kits from Bubbly Funk. This time I decided to make a pretty girly mixed tag ...
I began by adding layers of the 'Love' die cuts and glitter hearts on to one of the tags from 'Seeing Stars' kit. A good dose of gesso to neutralise the colour and then I added a selection of ribbons and trims; again out came the gesso but this time I wiped some away off the ribbon & trims...
I began to add colour using Nuvo mousses which highlighted all the different raised layers on the tag, blending the colours with a water brush ... now my favourite part ... faffing! I gathered all the bits I thought I might like to add to my tag ...
Oh I do love an embellishment or two or even three but even more than that, I adore getting everything out on the table and playing around with placement. In both the January 'Seeing Stars' and February's 'Love Is' kits, you are spoilt for choice when it comes to embellishments, ephemera bits, trims, acrylic shapes, chipboard & wooden shapes ... and the list could go on and on ...! Suffice to say, I had a great selection to choose from but managed to narrow it down in the end. Lots of the embellishments chosen were either covered with gesso or Nuvo mousse in order to compliment the tag background.
Still believing that there was something missing I finally decided to add the felt flower, (which I had at first dismissed) - a little gesso and mousse on it - and added it to my card. Finally as my final final finishing touch, I added some twine, twisting it around the tag and embellishments.
I had great fun making my tag and it was fabulous thinking out side the box about how to use the items in alternative ways. I surprised myself further by going with a soft girly colour palate which goes to show, mixed media designs do not always need to be dark ...!
Right off to walk the dog, who is thoroughly enjoying the snow, before it turns in to that horrible grey mush.
Keep warm everyone,
Lou
