Polkadoodles One Day Special - Gingerbread house with a twist ...
I thought today I would share one of my projects using the Polkadoodles 'Winter Wishes' clear stamp set which was launched on Hochanda as a 'One Day Special (ODS)' by Nikky Hall. I've decided to create a different style of card base using the Polkadoodles 'Fanciful Circles' nesting die set ...
I began by cutting the base card placing some of the largest die on my cutting plate with some 'dangling' off my plate repeating this on both sides. This was you then only cut where you want.Next I scored on the back of the card so that the outer edges became stop/legs to make card stand up when on display.
Must quickly point out, that for posting, you bring the outer edges to the front and now you have a flat piece of card which fits snuggled in an A5 envelope.
Using the next die down in the 'Fanciful Circles', I created my stamping mat and added my designs using Walnut Stain distress ink. Whilst the ink was still wet, I began colouring in the image, adding additional colour where necessary. Whilst this was drying, I began adding my additional embellishments to the card base.
Cutting several snowflakes - using the 'Fancy Snowflake' die - I began adding these to one side of my card and to break up the colour, I added beaded red berry embellishments. With Antique Linen distress ink, I added a few touches on the snowflakes to break up all that white.
On the lower half of the card, I added some ribbon offcuts and to match the pop of red at the top of the card, a few paper poinsettias. Faffing came in now as I felt something was still missing, so added a snowflake ... as you do ... okay as I do 😌 Once all these elements were securely in place, I added my stamped layer using glue gel and finished with a white paper flower. The sentiment is from the same stamp set, stamped & embossed in copper.
Now I know this looks 'busy & complicated' but actually it isn't ... the layering gives the card that illusion ... promise! Well have you used your stamps yet? Would love to see your take on the designs, so please leave a comment so I can pop over to your blog and admire your work.
Take care,
Lou
