Polkadoodles Posy Doodles stamps & papers - Special Times

Before summer finally leaves us, I thought it would be great to create a few summer themed or with a summer vibe, cards. This is very easy to do when you use the Posy Doodles papers & stamps from Polkadoodles because all the colours are warm, bright & inviting. There are two Posy Doodles kits to choose from but I've mainly used 'Splash of Summer' ...

I began by cutting out two of the toppers and layering them on an 6"x 6" white card blank but first stamping the sentiment on to the top topper. Using the ever-so versatile Mitred Corners dies, I created an edging on two sides.  Next I stamped out the beautiful girl image from 'Special Times' clear stamp set on to white card and just water coloured her face, legs & arms. With various scraps of paper & topper pieces, I stamped different parts of the girl again, paper piecing these on to the stamped topper.

She has been cut out and then stuck centrally to the card front however I couldn't resist adding a wee stamped, (& paper pieced), butterfly to her hair. As a finishing touch I have a few Fluffy Clouds die cuts, placing a lickle stamped, & yep, paper pieced, birdie to one. The butterfly & bird stamps are also part of the 'Special Times' clear stamp set.

A really quick card and a fabulous way to use up those precious scraps that you keep but not 100% sure when you'll ever use them again - you know what I mean 😉 Paper Piecing is also a great technique to use when colouring an image, as you don't have to worry about light sources, pleats etc when colouring ...
