Mini Art book using Creative Doodles Collection from Polkadoodles
Good morning everyone. I hope you're all well and enjoyed that quick visit by the sun over the previous Bank holiday. Sadly we're back to normal spring weather but it was great whilst it lasted. Today I'm sharing one of my projects - also on the Love 2 Create Challenge Blog - that I made as a demo on Hochanda for the launch of the Creative Doodles Collection from Polkadoodles , using a bit of everything from the collection ...
As part of the collection, you receive 65 A5 350gsm card backgrounds to kick start your creative journey and I have used these to create the books structure. I began by gathering my sheets, only 4 for this project, and gave them each a different colour wash background using my Daler Rowney acyrlic inks. Once dry, I stamped extra details using the texture stamps, (from the same collection) & cut then in half.
To create the hinges, I die cut rectangular frames from the same card, using the Polkadoodles Posydoodles layering dies and the inner part of the frame - waste - became the hinge. These were also given a watercolour treatment to match the other card backgrounds. Next I began playing with the A6 backgrounds deciding on what order they would go in and before joining together, added the hinges, which were then secured in place.
On each page I have added the frame and decorated with different elements from either the floral background card or the elements background card - part of the 65 sheets you get within the collection. All these elements have been painted with the same inks to ensure that the colours worked together.
On the front cover, I again layered up different elements, on to a piece of decorated kraft card - yep, you guessed it, also in the collection - and added my titles. These have been made using the Funky Alphabet stamps and rather than using the coordinating stencil, I coloured each letter with the same Daler Rowney inks. A few Nuvo stone drops as an added 'whateva' and the mini book was completed.
If you haven't seen this collection yet, pop over to the Polkadoodles shop to check it out as it is a great kit to get you in to your journaling/art pages/messy creativity and covers a multitude of themes/genres too.
I've also included the link to the Hochanda show where I have demoed making the book, just in case my description is a little flaky.
Have a great day everyone,
Lou
