Layered silhouette design using Tonic Studios new tag die collections

As part of their new Christmas collection, Tonic Studios released a collection of wonderful tag and pocket dies that will and can actually be used all year round - Enchanted Forest, Wondrous Woods & Mythical Glade layering dies. The designs are beautiful and create a wonderful woodland scene. I decided to go along the Christmas theme but kept my colours rather plain ...

Originally my card was going to be smaller and just feature the stag, doe and fawn but after cutting everything away, even with the vellum layer, it just wasn't strong enough, so decided to cut all the additional layers. I cut the stag, doe and fawn in white first, then a layer of white vellum and after realising my card needing 'shoring up', I re cut the designs in kraft card. I've added this behind the white card & vellum layers to create a shadow effect.

I created a card blank using the largest die from the Mythical Glade layering dies, joining at the top. Next I re cut the same size layer but cut away the detail and created a frame. I cut another frame, (without any detail) but this time in red card and added behind the decorative frame. This in turn was added to my card base with 3D foam pads.

With the white card that remained, I cut a frame and added the next decorative detail but this time I stuck this layer flat to my card base. My first layer with the stag in, was then placed inside this frame.

To hide the top of my forest detail, I have added my sentiment, which has been cut twice in red and once in kraft (offset shadow). I think it does a fab job of hiding the top of all the tress.

As a finishing touch I added some Nuvo red gem hearts and a few Cloud 9 Dream Drops - to act as falling snow). Now if you changed the colours on this card to autumn yellows, greens, red, oranges etc, it would no longer be a Christmas design and takes on another occasion.

Right better get back to editing my photos; gosh it takes me soooooo long to do this!

See you soon,

Lou
