Scraps are beautiful too - using Polkadoodles papers & dies

Recently I've been very good and rather than storing small wee bits of designer papers to use another day, which in turn never seems to arrive, I'm now trying to use them straight away or alternatively add to my 'giveaway bag' which I them take down to local schools. I simply had to as I was multiplying - actually breeding 😂 - storage boxes with lots of different leftovers.

Today's projects are made just using smaller designer paper offcuts and die cuts I found in a wallet. Everything is from Polkadoodles Ltd and full product list is at the bottom of this post ...

As I had mainly the same die cut pieces, I have stuck to the same card composition for both projects but each has it's own little twist/personality. Each of the main backing papers were cut in to different sized strips and then layered directly on to the card base leaving a small gap between each layer. This is a sneaky way of making a bigger background without having to use any more paper. The die cuts were then placed along the bottom of the last strip, for both cards, but the decoration & embellishments are similar but also slightly different.

For this card, I have used Polkadoodles paper scraps/leftovers from Sweet Tweet and Fresh Twist along with the Delicate Daisy Border die. The leaves have been cut out from the backing paper and layered up with 3D foam and I repeated this with the flowers too. I also added a shadow layer to the die cut to make sure it stood out rather than blend in.

For my embellishments, I used 'Bee Nice Sentiment' stamp set which has a selection of images plus sentiments, (17 stamps in total). Isn't that sentiment brilliant? Versatile too, for many an occasion.

I stamped the bee images and watercoloured with my Nuvo Aqua Flow pens, cutting them out, adding amongst the flowers.

For my second card, I followed the same layout: decorative paper strips, leaves cut from backing paper, Delicate Daisy Border die cut plus shadow, flowers ...

To add a contrast to the Delicate Daisy Border die cut and also the cut flowers, I die cut a butterfly in complimentary card using the Butterfly Trio dies.

The sentiment is from the Perfect Wishes sentiment stamp set - 11 sentiments and 2 frames in the clear stamp set. As a finishing touch I have used Nuvo sequins and dream drops.

I'm quite chuffed with these cards as I now have 2 pretty cards ready to send out and whats more, really goes to show that scraps are indeed beautiful too ...

How do you use your scraps or do you just 'store' them with all good intentions of using another day? I'd love to know, please do share.

Hi Lou, I used up several assorted pre-cut diecuts on a challenge to make 14 cards out of 1 sheet of 12x12 paper. It worked a treat! 😉
