Starting my journaling adventure using Polkadoodles Creative Doodles collection
I am very new to the whole journaling idea, mainly because I just like to create and never think about keeping my work after making it. However we keep saying to everyone print off your photos, record your memories etc etc and this is, to me, what a journaling book is about. Keeping your projects to reflect back on, plus record your creating style(s). Do yo use journals? What do you record in them or use them for? I'd love to see how & why you have used yours.
Right on to my project. I created this whimsical page using lots of elements from the Polkadoodles Creative Doodles Collection and thoroughly enjoyed myself, just playing ...
When I came back to the piece, I knew I wanted to play with the stencils from the collection but also didn't want to cover the work I had already done. Light bulb moment, cover the girl image. Light bulb switched off ... with what? Light bulb suddenly lit up again ... use a die cut shape.
Using a heart die cut, I covered my girl and began creating a background using the Flower Doodles stencil, inking around the heart and adding a few stamped designs from both the Funky Alphabet and Making Faces clear stamp sets. A few ink splats and some textured images added by using Textures Galore stamp set ... but it still felt disjointed. Have to say was beginning to become a little downheartened at this point, but pulled up my big girl knickers and kept going ...
I already had placed some sentiments around my girl image, which now looked lost on my page, so quickly grabbed my Funky Alphabet stamps, stamped 'you are', coloured them using the matching Funky Alpha stencil and cut them out. The other sentiments can be found on the Making Faces stamp set and I think there are over 50 to choose from! A quick doodles border with a black micron pen and my page was finished.
Thoroughly enjoyed making my page, learning that I need to just go with the flow and not over think the process. I can see this journaling thing becoming my new addiction ...
Until next time,
Lou

Gosh, where to start ...! I began by stamping out my face design, (using the Making Faces stamp set), adding the hair, (using Funky Alphabet stamp set) and then creating a sentiment - again using Making Faces stamp set. Afterwards, I was unsure where to go next, so actually put the piece to one side for several days.
Can you tell which letter I used to create the hair braids?

I felt the edges of the page need defining rather than just floating out in to space and whilst rummaging through my Polkadoodles Creative Stencils stash - yep I do have a few 😉😆 - I came across the Unicorns & Rainbows stencil; it has brilliant designs to create quick and easy borders. Problem solved.
