Tonic Studios Journal Stamp Collection - When a "TO DO" list has an arty purpose ...

Morning everyone. I have to confess that I am a real notebook freak and have oodles about the place. Some bought but most made by myself and I use them on a daily basis to record all manor of things. However, I have not really embraced bullet journaling but after being asked to make samples for Tonic Studios using their new journal stamps - Doodle Diary, Journaling Diary, Daisy Doodles & Silly Scribbles - I began researching how and why. Oh my, it was enlightening, a wee bit confusing at times but something I could see myself getting in to. One of my favourite videos I watched was a free class Dyan Reaveley gave on Scrapbook.com (see HERE) as thoroughly enjoyed her thought process, even if I would not always decorate my journals that way.

Okay enough of the waffle, I'd like to share one of my samples made for the stamps release and it is a double paged weekly spread ...

I was inspired by Dyan's thoughts that we should look back at what we had achieved and not look at what was left to do, so the journal page(s) could be used to record birthdays/meetings/goals etc but also include memories. With this in mind, I began by using some squared paper I had left over from school and after counting the squares - I know ... you're all saying "really!" - I plotted out my design. I separated the days using one of the smaller accessory line stamps from Journaling Diary, showing where each box started by stamping a flower & leaves, (using Silly Scribbles). Afterwards, I could then see how much space was left and could make a better decision on whether to use the full day eg: Monday or an abbreviation.

Once I had all the days planned out, I looked at the space I had left and began adding other boxes that I thought I could use in that week.

Finally once I was happy with the layout, I added lots of the floral designs from Silly Scribbles & Daisy Doodles stamp sets, all coloured with my Nuvo Aqua Flow pens.

I have kept my colouring really loose as didn't want to make this page all about the colouring but more about how the layout would work for me. Gosh I hope that makes sense ...!

I'm thoroughly enjoying the journal process as I can create at the same time as remembering "things". It really has taken away the chore of "To Do" lists and focused my thinking, (a little more .
