Sticks & Bones Dinosaur themed album - printable download collection from Polkadoodles - Part 1

Now that the majority of people are at home, I thought it would be rather fun to make a 6" x 6" album using the wonderful Sticks & Bones collection from Polkadoodles. This could easily become a project for the children to do in a pre-made or shop bought scrapbook because all the sheets/embellishments/characters etc are printable.

I'm going to split my post in to 3 posts otherwise I think blogger will go in to melt down mode 😉😀

You can check out all the Sticks and Bones range of digital goodies HERE.

OVER VIEW

When Nikky brought out the Sticks and Bones collection, I knew straight away what I wanted to do. A quick print of several design sheets, digi images, sentiments and a few paper designs, my mini album came to life. All the pages have been made using 12" card and folded in different ways to create hidden pockets and openings. All were hand sewn on to the spine and then the cover was added.

Very few "real" embellishments have been added and I have tried to rely on the embellishments from the collection. As an added "extra" (or faff as my family would call it), I have covered all the inner spine with frayed hessian. I think this adds to the prehistoric feel/theme.

Finally, the collection has a mixture of boy & girl stone age images. How cool is that?

FRONT COVER

Although I said this was a 6" x 6" album, in fact the pages are but the front and back covers are actually 7" x 7". Main reason was because I wanted to be able to add taller inserts.

As you can see, I've left about a 1cm gap between all my pages so I can add loads inside. All the images have been cut out either from character sheets or the backing papers.

INSIDE COVER & PAGE 1

The inside cover has a little pocket, edged with the hessian for either tags, photos or in my case, a note book. Page one has a hidden inside top opening pocket to hide a journal page/tag.

A close up of the handmade notebook and also the journal tag/page peeping out of the top opening pocket.

PAGES 2 & 3

These two pages have areas to add photos and any journaling/doodles ... even a mini story! Page 2 also has a hidden tag/page which shares the same pocket as page 1. On page 2 there is a smaller pocket and I thought tags, tickets etc could be added here.

Photo shows one of the many tags I have made for this album using up my paper scraps. Those huge bone images are part of the collection too. I have just printed one off, cut in half & added to each photo mount.

PAGE 4

I'm splitting up pages 4 & 5 so I can explain in a little bit more detail. Below shows page 4 as it would appear if you opened the book ... however ...

... if you pull the page open, it reveals a hidden pocket. Whoops forgot to say that you open from the centre.

Inside the pocket is a journal page/photo mount. This is harder to explain than to make - believe me!

Okay, going to stop at this point as there is quite a few more pages to share. I will put these on a separate blog post.
