Things that make me SMILE bullet journal in Sakura Sketch Note Book using Gelly Roll Pens

Very early start for me today as I am on Hochanda TV this morning at 7am. The weird part was not actually being in the studio for the shows but have to be honest and say, didn't miss being at Hochanda for 5am! Just in case you didn't know, for the shows, we are at the studio 2 hours before. I could watch from the comfort of my sofa, coffee in hand, & chill. Bizarrely I did still get showered,  dressed, with make up on even though I wasn't going to be there in person.

For my first demo, I shared how I created a bullet journal page called "Things that make me smile" ...

MY PAGE

With all that is going on in the world today, it is easy to forget the simple things: smiling, laughter & love. I wanted my bullet journal page to reflect that I am very lucky & still have all those things in my life. I also wanted to create the page, so I could look back & smile all over again. When I've added all the things from this week that brought a huge smile to my face, I'll repost my completed page.

I began by adding my heart title box first using a die cut aperture. Next it was to grab my favourite journaling stencil from Mama Makes - Boxes & Days. You look at the stencil & think "really" but once you start to use it, creating pages & decoration is quick, easy & very, very effective.

I'm using my Sakura Sketch Note book with the black pages which meant I simply HAD TO use all my Gelly Roll pens. Love their vibrancy & how they each take on a different character on the page. There is just so much you can do with these pens from drawing, doodling, colouring, water blending, layering on top of each other .... I could go on & on about why I love using them.

CREATE WITH THE CHILDREN

As times are confusing for the children, teenagers & young adults in our lives too & probably more so, this type of bullet journaling is perfect for them too. I've chosen "Smile" as my theme but there would be nothing wrong about it being a reflective piece about "What I Miss". Getting them to add a why would be perfect too. The latter sounds very negative but actually it gives us "the adults" a chance to discuss their feeling & address any fears or worries they might have.

SAKURA SKETCH NOTE BOOKS

Now I know I demo for Sakura but "hand on heart" I do use my books for crafting for ME. I now make time at least once a week to create a page where I can lose all sense of time & just get lost in the moment. Plus, I am a very keen lists person which makes creating weekly bullet journals easy n the books too.

You can have a quick look inside my journals by watching my introduction video here. This was created for the Hochanda shows.

MAMA MAKES STORE

I love buying things that "sing" to me in a creative way & the journal stencils from Mama Makes are simply perfect. They have everything you need but also allow you to add your own spin on your pages. I suppose it's a guiding hand to start you off but once you start, your own creativity kicks in. I've been using the "Boxes & Days" stencil a lot recently but now have my eye on the Banners one ....

I've recently bought this ubber cute set of cake & sentiment stamps & can't wait to turn them in to recipe pages. Since lockdown, we as a family have been sending each other cake recipes to try & then "virtually" taste test with each other. It's a fun reason to have a video call. Not good for the waist line but everyone needs a treat.
