Too Cute NEW Spring Has Sprung digi collection from Polkadoodles

If you were on Instagram & Facebook this weekend, you may have noticed a brand new digi release from Polkadoodles. It was a set of 5 images from the Too Cute range called "Spring has Sprung".

I dusted off my Lyra Rembrandt polycolor pencils, gave them a quick sharpen & had fun getting back in to a colouring vibe with 3 of the images in the release.

HELLO

Polkadoodles Too Cute Spring has Sprung collection coloured by Lou Sims

I've printed my image in draft mode on to Polkadoodles Ultimate Graphic paper. I prefer to leave my images to settle/dry before colouring but that's me. Using my Lyra Rembrandt polycolor pencils, I began colouring the cute chicks. Look at his hat 💙

The cloud background has been created using Polkadoodles Cloud Landscape stencil with Izink Mer du Sud with a finger dauber. For the grass I used Polkadoodles Grass Lawn Border with Izink dye inks again in Verveine & Menthe.

To add more detail to the grass, I added random flicks of pencil & then my flourescent green Sakura Moonlight Gelly Roll pen. The little flower dots were also made using Moonlight Gelly Roll pans in pink, yellow & orange.

I really wanted the "HELLO" to stand out, so grabbed my Sakura Glaze pen in black. In real life it gives a wonderful raised effect.

SPECIAL WISHES

This was actually the first image I chose to colour because I simply adore the design/layout: from the rabbits, to the background & to the wonderful sentiment design. However one other reason ... it gave me a chance to play & colour with my pencils to get back in to the swing of things.

When I coloured the sentiment, I think I chose the wrong colours as they blended in to the fence far too much. Using a dark grey pencil & a white pen, I've added shadow & light, which now makes the sentiment stand out a wee bit more.

The rabbits were meant to be a little browner but somehow ended up the same colour as hares! I've kept the card design very simple as I wanted the image to be the focal point, not al the layers of faff I usually add 😀

HOPPY EASTER

Now you gotta agree that the sentiment design is simply COOL!  I think it's the simplicity of the design; it really packs a punch. This image & sentiment put a huge smile on my face.

Again I have used pencils to colour the whole image. The clouds were created using Polkadoodles great outdoors stencil with Izink dye ink pad in Mer du Sud.

To lift the scene, I have used my Sakura Moonlight pens to add dots of colour as if they are wee flowers in the grass. The sentiment has been coloured with a Sakura black glaze pen, I real life, it gives a wonderful raised, gloss look.
