Polkadoodles Mixed Media stamps - creating an Art Journal double page spread.

A wee while ago, I created my art/junk journal using up-cycled card & papers. It has 3 different signatures sewn in to the spine with a wrap around cover. Slowly I am beginning to start filling my art/junk journal with a mixture of photos, scrap pages & art journal ideas.

For this double page spread, I thought it would be cool to work with a selection of Polkadoodles mixed media stamps ...

I also made a video showing how I created my pages. It can be found further down this post.

MY JOURNAL PAGES

My goal recently is to use up either my decorative papers or the printed gelli plate backgrounds I have made. This was true of these pages. I have cut circle stamping mounts from different gelli plate printed backgrounds & stamped lots of different images.

I created a background with DecoArt paints & black ink. I've also added extra stamping & paper scraps to add layers/texture. Next I began layering the stamped circles on to the page.

I love that you can still see the original gelli print design through the coloured stamped images. All the images were coloured with Sakura Koi Brush Pens. I've also added a little free hand doodling too.

This stunning beauty is called Weirdre & is part of the Weirdre Create your own Rainbow stamp set. She is ubber cool & she can be coloured in so many ways. I've stamped her on to a gelli plate background & coloured with Sakura Koi brush pens.

I thought the circle looked strange just hanging in the middle of the page, so stamped the ladder from Reach High stamp set, adding it to where Weirdre's legs were. The sentiments are from Weirdre Catch your own Rainbow & Be True to Yourself stamp sets.

YOUTUBE VIDEO

If you click the video link below, you can see how I created my pages from the very beginning. It's not a long video - about 13 minutes - and stops before i begin my random faffing stage.

I've added my art/junk journal pages to the We Love 2 Create Mixed Media challenge blog which is sponsored by Polkadoodles. It's a monthly challenge blog with great prizes too. Why not pop over and see what my other talented teamies have been making.

I've a busy day today which starts at silly o'clock. I'm crossing all my fingers & toes, that this post goes live when it's meant to!

See you all soon & many thanks for popping by today,

Lou
