French Armoire Gift Box by Tonic Studios - step by step tutorial with a twist
A wee while ago Tonic Studios launched the beautiful Ornate Gift Boxes Collection. What a truly beautiful collection is this consisting of the French Armoire & Jewellery Box die sets.
In my post today I am sharing a step by step tutorial with the French Armoire die set sharing a different way to create a larger opening.
You can check out the Ornate Gift Box collection in the Tonic Studios stores by clicking the links below -
FRENCH ARMOIRE TUTORIAL
When I received my dies I just knew that I wanted to be able to create a larger opening without having to take away the top panel. Whilst making my box "my light bulb moment" happened.
Rather than stick all the panels together, I decided to create another latch system on the back panel to now create a way to add larger presents inside the gift box. This meant I could keep the top to the French Armoire too & the recipient could peek at their present via the front doors but "get at it" via the larger opening at the back.
The latching mechanism is made using a die found within the French Armoire die set. You also get the wonderful feet die too.
YOUTUBE TUTORIAL
You can see the whole process of how I created the opening in step by step stages in my YouTube video. I even share the one or two mistakes I made along the way too.
DECORATING THE FRENCH ARMOIRE
I wanted to add decoration to my French Armoire Gift Box but still be able to open the doors at the front. Using a selection of Susan's Garden dies from Tonic Studios, I created my floral arrangements.
I've kept to the same colour scheme to add a look of sophistication & also to blend in with the overall scheme. I think these colours & decoration would make a beautiful gift box for Christmas; change the flower to a poinsettia.
I also decided to decorate the top of the box with the same die cut flowers & leaves, trailing one of the leaf branches over the top.
THE ORNATE GIFT BOX COLLECTION
In this beautiful collection there are two die sets: French Armoire Gift Box & Jewellery Box, You can each die set separately too. Tonic Studio store links are below -
Many thanks for popping over today & I hope you enjoyed the step by step tutorial. I do try very hard to push my crafty stash as much as possible because I want to be able to use them in lots of different ways.
Take care & hope to see you again soon,
Lou
