Hints & tips to get the most out of your Nuvo Mica Mist & Sparkle sprays

Tonic Studios kindly asked their Design Team to come up with a selection of hints and tips for their customers when using any Tonic Studios products: dies, Nuvo, Craft perfect & tools. For my first video tip, I chose to share my tips with Nuvo Mica Mists & Nuvo Shimmer Sprays.

In my blog post, I explain each of the sprays & how they work plus I am also sharing different projects made using the sprays to enhance backgrounds, die cuts & stamps. You will also find links to 2 videos - one sharing the tips & one showing how I used the sprays in a project.

NUVO MICA MISTS

What are they? The Nuvo Mica Mist sprays have been designed to add a shimmering sparkle to your creative project. The uniquely engineered solution contains mica powder and a coloured pigment which adheres to the surface, allowing you to add multiple layers.

There are many ways to use them: spray directly onto light or dark card, through a stencil, over an existing embellishment or on to a pre-gesso'd page/project. You can also remove the nozzle and paint directly onto a porous surface, creating a more vivid sheen. This is a superb way to add colour, shine & sparkle to your stamped images in one go.
They are available in an 80ml bottle with an ultra-fine nozzle. Shake gently from side to side before use or alternatively, roll gently on your craft table.

NUVO SPARKLE SPRAYS
What are they & how do they differ from the Mica Mists? Firstly they are perfect product for creating background and sparkling finishes. The formula contains ultra-fine silver glitter particles, (not Mica), that create a glittering varnish finish which can be applied to a variety of surfaces: wood, metal, fabric, cardboard, paper, and polystyrene. They too also have a fine nozzle to help with spraying your media but also have a ball bearing which activates the spray.
They are available in an 30ml bottle and to activate shake gently from side to side before use or alternatively, roll gently on your craft table.

ADDING COLOUR TO A TEXTURED BACKGROUND

For this mixed media project, I have sprayed my background with Nuvo Sparkle Spray in Marine Burst, partly covering my Nuvo Mousse stencil layer. I also sprayed my card with Nuvo Mica Mist in Aspen Gold, before die cutting my floral elements.

As you can see, the sprays work perfectly over the Nuvo Embellishment Mousse  & add another textural layer to my project.

SPRAYED BACKGROUND

In this card, I have heavily sprayed a piece of white card with Nuvo Violet Lustre Mica Mist & Nuvo Amethyst Shimmer Sparkle Spray. For added added shimmer, whilst the card was still wet, I added a little Nuvo Shimmer Powder in Violet Brocade.

I also used the Nuvo Violet Lustre Mica mist to add extra shimmer to the stamped dress.

USING ON RECYCLED MEDIA TO CREATE FLOWERS
Now I do love to push my crafty stash as much as I can and for this project, I used both Nuvo Mica Mist & Nuvo Sparkle sprays to colour kitchen towel.
You can see the original blog post for all these projects HERE & accompanying YouTube video HERE

DIE CUT BACKGROUNDS
For this die cut & layered background, I have used the Nuvo Mica Mists to activate the Nuvo Shimmer Powders. The combination of the two, creates a dramatic, colour packed background.

YOUTUBE VIDEO
In my short video, I share my hints & tips about how to activate & care for your sprays.

This is only a small selection of projects I have made using the Nuvo Mica Mists & Nuvo Sparkle Sprays. There is probably loads more ways of using the sprays which I have yet to discover and that to me makes a crafty product even more fun.
Many thanks for popping by today. I do pop over to peoples blogs but sadly do not always have the time to leave a comment. That's on my "to do " list : make more time to comment & engage on blogger.
Take care & stay safe,
Lou xxx
