Sakura Sketch Notebook black paper - inspiration & ideas

Oh boy did I have a blast last week demoing a whole range of wonderful Sakura products for the ODS (One Day Special) shows on HOCHANDA TV. Thank you to everyone who tuned in & supported me during the shows & also bought the different products on offer 💙💚💛💜💗

As promised, here is a selection of the pages I have created in my Sakura Sketch Notebook on black paper.

THINGS THAT MAKE ME SMILE

For this double page spread, I wanted to create a layout to remind me about all the things around me that bring a smile to my face. They could be small or large but the pages were to show that I had lots in my life to always smile about.

I've used a stencil to create my boxes, apertures from die cut waste & a wee bit of free hand doodling. Everything on the page has been coloured with Sakura Moonlight pens & then added highlights using Sakura Glaze pens.

Using a mixture of different sized white Gelly Roll pens, (05, 08, 10), I have created my outlines, words & doodles. I love the fact that these pens come in different sized nibs because it is easier then to create depth.

MONTHLY BULLET JOURNAL LAYOUT

If you are not in to using your Sakura Sketch Notebooks as an art journal, it can be used for all your bullet journal (BUJO) ideas and actually become a working diary book. Below is a double page I created for the month of April 2020.

Again using a mixture of Sakura white Gelly Roll pens, Sakura Moonlight pens, stencils & freehand doodles, I created my monthly overview. I went with the theme "Little April Showers" & have doodled the song lyrics around the edge of my page.

The random shape in the middle which is my monthly overview was created by drawing around the edge of a cloud stencil and then joining it all together. It's made a unique style frame. After completing my overview, I then moved on to my weekly pages, keeping to the same theme.

ART JOURNAL PAGE

This page was created by drawing around a heart die cut and then adding bits of doodles around. When I finished doodling, it didn't look joined, just lots of mish mash of shapes. Using a butterfly stencil, I created a diagonal row of butterflies.

I then coloured all the images with a mixture of Sakura Moonlight, metallic & sparkle pens. I adore how the different ink types show each other off on my page.

To break up the blocks of colour, I used another stencil drawing in white gelly roll & then filling in the centre space with a Quickie glue pen. Once the glue had become clear, I added gilding flakes. I think it adds another layer of depth.
