Art journal pages with GelliArts & Bee Crafty
I am so chuffed this month as I am being featured on GelliArts as a Guest Designer across all their platforms ... excited dot com! As I only began gelli plate printing six months ago, this is just a wonderful privilege.
For one of my projects, I knew straight away what I wanted to do, with what & also in what ...! Here's the finished result ...
More details & YouTube links below.
MY ART JOURNAL PAGES
Using my largest GelliArts gelli plate I began by creating the backgrounds on my mixed media card using oxide ink pads & Bee Crafty Inkable stencils. I created 2 main backgrounds in total & also used my "mop up" card too.
Next using my GelliArts mini gelli plate, I began adding a background to my Dina Wakley large mixed media journal with layers of picked raspberry distress oxide.
For the hessian page in my journal, I stamped the wonderfully huge Scripted Bee collage stamp - also from Bee Crafty - on to a printed background. I coloured the image with the same oxide inks that I used to create the background. I tore around this piece & added the printed stamped panel to the hessian page.
Now using all the stamped bee elements I had created from my gelli plate printed backgrounds I began adding them to both pages using gel medium. Once dry, I finally finished with a layer of Pretty Gets Gritty crackle gel.
The final process was to add the film strips & all the words I had created to both pages. To add even more depth, I used some Dina Wakley tissue papers in small areas only. Do you know what? I think I managed to use at least 95% of all the gelli plate printed backgrounds I created - definite high five moment.
BEE CRAFTY
Bee Crafty are a UK based, family run craft company specialising in their own clear photo-polymer stamps, a huge range of stencils which they call "Inkables, D'Inkables & Easy Frames plus a wonderful selection of MDF items - all produced by Bee Crafty themselves. If that wasn't quite enough, they also stock a whole host of other product ranges too.

Next using my GelliArts mini gelli plate, I began adding a background to my Dina Wakley large mixed media journal with layers of picked raspberry distress oxide.
Lots of stencil and stamping layers then followed using Bee Crafty Inkable stencils & their fabulous, versatile "Texture Film Strip Circles" Art Stamps.
Using the printed gelli plate backgrounds I stamped lots of the elements from Bee Crafty "Bee Monarchy" art stamps & then cut the images out ... okay this set has a matching set of dies which sped the process up.
Still using the backgrounds I had made, I also stamped out the film strip stamp multiple times to create borders. Next came the sentiments & words; again stamped on to my backgrounds. These were then cut out but this time by hand ...!
