Art Journal Page using layered stamping techniques - Have your moment in the light

I've been wanting to do this idea for a wee while now & I've finally have! We have the official photograph of Aaron's graduation but I really wanted to do an art journal page to remember the event in a slightly less formal way.

Using Bee Crafty's Light Bulb Circuit stamps, I have created a mutli layered stamped background for one of Aaron's graduation photos ...

MY THOUGHT PROCESS

As I said earlier, I really wanted to journal about Aaron's graduation. We were lucky that Aaron graduated the year before lockdown, so had the full ceremony, unlike graduates this year. Now we have lots of official posed photographs to remember the event but I want to journal with a natural, family vibe photo.

I also wanted my page to be about his moment "in the light" & what he had achieved. As you can see from photo above, I loved my page so much, I even framed it!

ART JOURNAL PAGE

As this was all about Aaron's moment in the light or even his lightbulb moment, Bee Crafty's Light Bulb Circuit stamps were just perfect to use for my project. I began by layering just the light bulb 3 times & then added extra stamped details.

All the images have been water coloured using Royal Talens water colours - Van Gogh & Art Creations. I have deliberately kept the colours quite simple so every part og my journal page could "stand out".

I created extra stamped layers/embellishments by stamping out smaller elements from the larger stamp set, water colouring & cutting them out.

To add another layer, I have used distress glazes in fossilized amber & broken china. The main reason for choosing these is because they are a translucent embossing glaze which allows the images below to still be seen but also colour tints them too.

My sentiments in the end were kept very simple & are placed around different elements on the page or written so small, you have to hunt them out.

YOUTUBE VIDEO

I videoed myself making my page & it is a little "rough & ready" in places. This is because I was creating this page just for me & not worried about any particular thought process or logical steps.

Do you know what? I thoroughly enjoyed creating my page because it was for me, my journal, my personal records, my feelings etc. Since finishing this piece, I have completed another page but gone back to my scrapbooking days. Once the frame I have ordered arrives, I'll share that page with everyone too.

Many thanks for popping over today & I hope you are safe, well & the best you can be.

Until next time,

Lou
