Clean & Simple Shaker Card using 1 stamp & 2 dies

The project I am sharing today is something I do not normally do - clean & simple plus embracing white space. I thoroughly enjoy seeing other crafters projects using these styles but for some reason or another, I always struggle. I think in my head I believe that there is just something missing & before I know it, another layer or embellishment has been added.

Today's card is a clean & simple shaker card using minimal craft items ...

YOU ARE PRETTY PERFECT SHAKER CARD

When I started my card, I really have tried hard to make each feature have their moment in the light ie: the beautiful floral image stands out & also the shaker element. However they both work together too seamlessly without clashing.

I've stamped my image with clear embossing ink & using detail fine white embossing powder, heat embossed. After cutting the image out, I water coloured with my Van Gogh watercolours. The stamp set is from Polkadoodles called "Pretty Perfect".

Using the largest oval die from Polkadoodles Posy Doodles Oval die set, I die cut my aperture. I kept this piece to add to the inside of my card as an insert. Next I die cut the beautiful Polkadoodles Oval Trellis twice - once in white & once in pale green - and layered them on top of each other to create a drop shadow effect.

Now the fun  part, choosing what to put inside my shaker. I am a secret closet sequin hoarder so actually narrowing down my choices was probably the longest part of making my card. I don't over fill my shaker cards as love seeing the movement & the soft noise that is made when you gently shake the card.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set and I have kept it as is but if you prefer, it would be easy enough to colour each of the letters in with complimentary colours or even black. The "you" and "are" come from Polkadoodles Super Sentiments stamp set - 49 stamps in this set!

SHAKER CARDS

Now I am rather partial to a shaker card & for a Halloween treat, I created a shaker card full of M&Ms. I've linked to the blog post and YouTube videos below. Click on the photos below or if you prefer, I have added direct links too.
