Forget all the rules and just create ... Polkadoodles mixed media stamps & Sakura pens

I simply adore that quote - forget all the rules & just create. A perfect reminder to just go with the flow, don't over think it & see where you end. I think sometimes our pursuit in trying to get the perfect finished project, means we forget the fun of creating in the first place.

The quote is from Polkadoodles Weirdre Just Create stamp set. I've used it to create 2 very similar tags because ... well couldn't decide whether the frame or arrows were better!

FORGET ALL THE RULES

Both my tags started with a foil sheet which I found when tidying up. I threw a few alcohol inks at & let it dry. Once dry, I added to a mount board shaped tag. To add extra interest, I have used my Gelly Roll Moonlight pens to doodle in between the chevron designs & gives this pops of neon colour.

Using elements from Weirdre Hanging Garden & Weirdre Bumpy Road, I began adding to my background, layering up the different stamped elements. These have been coloured with a mix of Sakura koi brush pens, Gelly Roll Moonlights & Gelly Roll metallic pens. Just adore how they all work together to make each stand out.

Weirdre Create has been coloured with Sakura Koi brush pens and extra details added with the Gelly Roll Moonlight pens. Love, love it when a plan in my head actually comes together. 

Finally the sentiment was stamped out, cut up and placed on the tags with a few sequins as my finishing touch. I haven't added any ribbon as yet because I fancied adding some eyelash yarn which I now need to go buy.

Taking a leaf from Seth Apter's book, one of these tags will now adorn my inspiration wall for 2021 and the other will go in one of my art journals - deciding which, will take me longer than it did to make both the tags!

Have to say I'm a wee bit chuffed with these tags and the only thing I might still do is add some raised glaze highlights using my Sakura Glaze pens. 

I need to do more of this type of crafting where I grab different products, stamp & colour like crazy and then just simply make. Not do the over thinking part about whether they will go with this or go better with that ... as the sentiment says ... forget all the rules & create!

It's prep time here and I have all my painted pieces on the floor drying but am faffing as to what to do with them next. Think I need a coffee, have a wee break and then just "play".
