Underwater Artist Art Journal Page using Marlene's World Collection from Studio Light

I treated myself a long while ago to the fabulous Marlene's World Collection from Studio Light and sadly have to report that it has stayed hidden in a folder since then.

Finally, I had some precious "me time" and decided to get the collection and have a play around with a few of the stamps plus collage/paper pieces. It was the sentiment that really "sang to me" 😍 but not like a Sea Siren does ...!

A full "how I did it" is below & also a full list of supplies at the bottom of the post.

Paint your heart out

The wonderful Underwater Artist stamp set from Marlene's World Collection was my starting point and I stamped her out on to Royal Talens Ecoline mixed media/water colour paper, colouring her in straight away with a mix of Sakura Koi pens & paints. This then left me in a bit of a quandary as sillily I hadn't created my background!

Masking fluid came to my rescue and I covered the image leaving a white outline - a freebie highlight I suppose. I then drew a circle to place my sentiment and masked this off too. Next to add some foliage and sea floor detail. Parts of this were also masked off but other areas left so they could be coloured at the same time as doing the background.

Using a mixture of Ecoline brush pens and Sakura Koi pearlescent paints, I created my underwater background drying between each layer. This helps when you want to add layers and gave a wonderful pearlescent watery feel to my page.

When I had coloured all that I wanted, I removed the masking fluid. I was left with most of my background & main images done. Next to my favourite part ... the faffing!

Using the fabulous collage & paper piece books, I added extra elements from the boats, paint brushes, extra waves & foliage too. As a final final thing, I added some white pen highlights & a few dozen dots using my Sakura white gelly roll pen.

I'm really chuffed to bits as to how this came out and at the same time cross with myself that I've waited so long to create with this collection.
