Shady Designs Gather Together stamp set - split card design idea

The main focal stamp from Shady Designs Gather Together stamp set is a commanding image. It was designed to make quick backgrounds for your art journal and mixed media pieces . This gives the look as if you had used multiple stamps and  masking techniques too.

Being such a dominant image has its bonuses for cardmaking too. I created the main card and then re-created splitting the design!

True Friendship is you & me

I stamped the main focal image from Gather Together with salty ocean oxide. I then added additional stamping with mustard seed using smaller stamps from the same stamp set. I inked around the edges in mustard seed, rounded two of the corners and added to an A5 card base.

On a piece of white card I stamped flower and leaf images from Pattern Parade stamp set using the same oxide ink colours. I cut the images out ready to add to my card. Some of the images have been raised with 3D foam pads & others stuck directly to the design.

As a finishing touch I stamped some butterflies (Shady Designs Hanging stamp set) and added a few gem pearls in co-ordinating colours.

Split card designs

For the next two cards, I stamped the main Gather Together image using the same colours. Then I cut the image in half, (down the centre). One card I kept the same way up ...

... and the other card, I turned upside down!

The decoration I have kept exactly the same for both these cards and only changed the ink colour around the edges. The card toppers now fit a DL card base perfectly.

Isn't it strange that both these DL cards are the same but still look a little different. I do love it when a crafty plan that's been whirring around in my head, actually works!
