Art Journal page using Shady Designs stamps with Dolly Dimples Crafts images

I'm not sure if you are like me but I have lots of premade backgrounds that I keep but never seem to use! Grabbing one of those backgrounds I had created using my Shady Designs stamps & stencils, I decided to make an art journal page in my new Pink Pig 11" x 11" book.

You bring calm to my soul

The background was half completed and was made using a mix of Shady Designs stamps & stencils with the Dolly Dimples Crafts Heart Layering Stamp. Somehow it still needed a little bit more ... ! have used Mindfulness from the Sisters of Serenity Collection from Dolly Dimples Crafts, (images designed by Ann-Marie Hutchison), as I felt the image went with the calmness of my background.

I added some stencil detail on the journal backing page, using Shady Designs Moroccan Trellis and  Angle Leaf with peacock feathers oxide ink. Using a quick glue pen, I went over some of the stencil detail adding gilding flakes. I then stuck the background in place.

Mindfulness plus the hare image (from Star Gazing stamp set), have been coloured with Sentimentally Yours Colour Radiance pens, cut out and then added where I thought they could each take pride of place.

Stamping a range of the accessory images from all of the three different stamps sets from the Sisters of Serenity Collection, I have coloured some - with the same pens - and left others black & white. I cut the mages out and added to my background.

The sentiment itself was my main source of inspiration for the art journal piece. I also think having a mix of coloured and uncoloured images works really well. Nothing clashes with the piece next door and each stands out.
