The theme this time is "Use a photo" & I decided to create an art journal page with a difference ...

Crafting Together with All Brands

Crafting Together with All Brands or C2WABs is a Facebook Group which positively encourages everyone to use their crafting stash regardless of brand. Mix your brands together and have fun creating. The crafters collaborating on this YouTube hop are companies & individuals that regularly create Facebook Live content for the group members.

Fright Night

When the theme came up I had an idea of what I wanted to make but I did not want it to be a scrapbook page but more of an art journal page. The "use a photo" part was easy but how to turn in to something that wasn't a scrapbook page ...!?!

Grabbing my Shady Designs stencils Moroccan Trellis, This Way, That Way, Framed and Angle Leaf I began adding some colour and marks. This helps me place my designs and gives me a starting point to build up upon.

I'm using lots of Halloween themed elements from Dolly Dimples Crafts Halloween Kits to add to my page along with a photo of my youngest son Aaron. I have layered some of these pieces on gel prints I had been storing in my stash!

Once I was happy with where the main elements were going, I began sticking them in place. A little doodling was added to tie the page together too.

HOWEVER, even though I finished the page in my video I still thought that there was something missing. Couldn't put my finger on it but there was something! Rifling through my stash I discovered my Tim Holtz distress mica stains and thought "why not".

The distress mica stain sprays lifted the design because of the mica but also added an extra depth. Is it finished? I'm not 100% sure. I do think it needs a title or some journaling but am going to walk away at this point and revisit the project at a later date.

I have to admit that I thoroughly enjoyed making this page and really must do this more often ie: incorporate my photos in to my journaling.
